10 Cars (2006) Facts That Will Make You Say "Ka-Chow!"

Hey movie marauders! Cars came out in 2006, and was a big hit. It got $462.2 million at the Box Office, and a 74% on Rotten Tomatoes. Cars 3 was released June 16, 2017. Cars 3 may not have been very successful, but everyone still loves the first Cars film. Let's take a look at some fun facts about Cars 1!

1. Cars is the last Pixar movie to be released on VHS, and the first Pixar movie to be released on Blu-ray (it is also the last movie to be produced by Pixar before it was bought by Disney).

2. Occasionally, Lightning McQueen's tongue sticks out when he is thinking hard about something. This is something that director John Lasseter does that the animators included into the film.

3. The Pizza Planet truck (from Toy Story) can be seen next to the Elvis car in the crowd scene.

4. Lightning McQueen was originally going to be number 57 (the year director John Lasseter was born). It was changed to 95 to represent the year Toy Story was released (1995).

5. Cars was originally going to be called Route 66, but was changed to not suggest that it was related to the TV show Route 66.

6. The human inspiration for Lightning McQueen was Michael Jordan.

7. Mater's car design is a 1955 Chevrolet Stepside tow truck.

8. At Radiator Springs, the hill looks like the top of a radiator with a cap.

9. Tow Mater's license plate is A-113, which represents the number of the animation classroom at Cal Arts.

10. The race car's tires say Lightyear, which refers to the company Goodyear and to Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story.
