Thor Ragnarok (2017): What We Know So Far

in #movies7 years ago (edited)

Hello movie marauders! Thor: Raganrok will be released November 3, 2017, and marks the 3rd film of the Thor movies. Filming began in Australia in July, and it was originally going to be released July 28, 2017. From what we have seen in the teaser trailer it looks AMAZING!! I really like the Guardians Of The Galaxy Vibe and how we get to see what Thor AND Hulk have been up to during Captain America: Civil War. This movie is directed by Taika Waititi (who has not directed any Thor movies). Hopefully Thor: Ragnarok lives up to the hype, and really gives Thor the great movie he deserves. Let's discuss everything we know about Thor: Ragnarok and how it will introduce Avengers: Infinity War!! (release date of May 4, 2018).

~Cast~

Chris Hemsworth as Thor

Thor seems to be missing his hair and hammer, Mjolnir, since it was destroyed by Hela (in the teaser trailer).

Mark Ruffalo as Hulk/Bruce Banner

We haven't seen Hulk since Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015), and now all of our questions will be answered.

Cate Blanchett as Hela

She will be the villain in the movie, and is trying to take over/destroy Asgard. Hela is the Goddess of Death.

Idris Elba as Heimdall

Heimdall is returning, he is all-seeing/all-knowing, and guards Bifrost Bridge.

Tom Hiddleston as Loki

Loki is back, and he is such an amazing villain. He seems to be helping Thor in this movie, but you can't really trust him because he is always doing something in the background.

Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange

Yup, Doctor Strange will be making an appearance in Thor: Raganrok (Thor made an appearance in Doctor Strange's movie).

Jaimie Alexander as Sif

She was in the other 2 Thor movies, and could eventually be a love interest of Thor (since he broke up with Natalie Portman's character, Jane).

Anthony Hopkins as Odin

Loki became Odin in a little trick in Thor: The Dark World. Now, Odin is back in Thor: Ragnarok (not looking so good).

Karl Urban as Skurge

He is one of Thor's enemies, is an Asgardian, and is also known as the Executioner.

Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster

Grandmaster loves games, and is the mastermind behind pitting Thor and Hulk against each other in the stadium.

Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie

She is an Asgardian warrior, and will be a love interest to Thor (and his foil). Valkyrie wants to forget about her Asgardian heritage. She is equal to Thor or even stronger than him.

Taika Waititi as Korg

The director of the movie is playing Korg, who is a rock-like alien.

~Plot~

Ragnarok is a Norse myth, which means that the world will end (the Gods die and humanity only has 2 people left to repopulate the Earth). Mark Ruffalo said that this movie will have some comedy, and Thor/Hulk go across the 9 realms (kind of like a road trip). The major plot is that Thor is imprisoned in the gladiator arena, and must get out to stop Hela from destroying his home, Asgard. I am very excited for this movie because of the plot, and the villain actually sounds badass and awesome.

I really like how Thor is based off of Norse mythology, and how all the characters are warriors--with swords and shields. I mean, battling the Goddess of Death sounds pretty challenging, especially when she breaks an all-powerful hammer (Mjolnir). The teaser trailer looks serious and funny, especially when Thor exclaims that him and Hulk are work friends. I am very anxious to see Hulk, and what he has been through. Also, Doctor Strange is an added bonus to this movie.

Loki is basically one of the best (or literally the best) villain of the MCU, and he always has a trick up his sleeve. He is very cunning, and not loyal (we will talk about that ore in the next section of the article). I like how Thor: Ragnarok has an old school style, like Guardians Of The Galaxy, and I can't wait to see how this movie connects the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

~Introduction To Avengers: Infinity War~

[If you DO NOT want to know about the teaser trailer that was released at D23 Expo--not online yet--than this section of the article isn't for you]

Infinity War news gets me SO excited!! Apparently, Thor is found by the Guardians Of The Galaxy (in the Milano) floating in space. Mantis wakes him up, and he says "who the hell are you guys?" This could mean that in Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is unsuccessful in saving Asgard and is banished by Hela by getting thrown into space to die. I am not sure because this is just a possible explanation.

Loki could be working for Thanos all along, because Loki gives him the Tesseract for his Infinity Gauntlet in the trailer. Loki could be snaking on Thor, or he is playing both sides, or he could even be trying to get inside information to help Thor. Honestly, it's so hard to tell with Loki because he is always changing sides (and doing what is best for himself). In Thor: Ragnarok it seems that Loki is helping Thor defeat Hela, so I'm really not sure if he is aligned with Thanos.

Another thing the trailer revealed, is a destroyed planet while Thor is with the Guardians Of The Galaxy in the Milano. People have speculated it is Asgard (which could have been destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok). All I know is that Thor: Ragnarok definitely has something that relates to Avengers: Infinity War. [Please note that none of these theories have been confirmed to be true, it is just speculation.]
