10 Despicable Facts About Despicable Me

in #movies7 years ago

Hey movie marauders! With the release of Despicable Me 3, I thought it would be fun to take a look at the original that started it all, Despicable Me. Despicable Me was released in 2010, and without it the world would have no Minions (would that really be a bad thing?). I love the first film of the trilogy because of the humor and plot. I did not like Minions (the movie) at all, and I thought Despicable Me 2 was pretty good. I haven't seen the latest film, Despicable Me 3 yet. Now, let's take a look at some fun facts about Despicable Me!

1. The producers of Despicable Me casted only actors who could improvise comedy lines (such as Steve Carell and Russell Brand).

2. Gru looks like an Emperor Penguin, which fits him because Emperor Penguins take care of their children.

3. Elsie Fisher's (who plays Agnes) father would tickle her to make her laugh during recordings.

4. Despicable Me was originally titled Evil Me.

5. Dr. Nefario (comes from the word nefarious) means villainous and very wicked.

6. The DJ Minion uses a Gru-ray Disc player, which has the same font and color as a Blu-ray Disc player.

7. Directors Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin voice the Minions, which is why they sound French and English.

8. Will Arnett (who plays Mr. Perkins) gained weight for his role so his voice would sound better (Mr. Perkins is a heavy-set man).

9. The NBC logo is on the top of the Jumbotron in Gru's lair.

10. When Gru goes into the bank, a board says "We are always alert to your needs" even though the receptionist is sleeping.
