Sprouting Mung Beans After Four Days macrophotography

I have removed the hulls and eaten some of my sprouting mung beans before their time. Now here are the remaining sprouts after four days of growing.

They look more like what you are used to seeing if you have only seen mung beans when fully sprouted. My spouts need a bit more attention from now on to make sure they do not dry out. These babies suck up the water now! They are also a bit delicate; and can break if I am too rough in mixing them when I add water to the bowl.

At this point, the mung bean sprouts are most definitely food, and its a lucky batch that makes it to the end of growing from here. If I am making soup or salad – a handful of mung beans are coming in.

Sprouts are almost overflowing the bowl now and seem to be a lot. But they are deceptive with their twists and turns and are less food that they appear to be. They shrink down in soup and I don’t add a huge amount to salad at this point. They still have a somewhat strong taste until tomorrow.

Notice the hulls remaining. These are what stuck around after I did the rinsing step and picked through them. I feel pretty certain I will stop doing this step for future. I talked about the debate about removing hulls on an earlier post for this series [which WON for the food category in the @photocontests by @juliank!!!! Only my second win in many tries!!!!]
