Traveling to Tianjin, China During a NATIONAL HOLIDAY!
My friend, Johnathan and I took an awesome trip to Xi'an, China but we first needed to head to the metropolitan city of Tianjin. We spent one night there and then hopped on China's awesome high speed train to go to Xi'an the next day!
In this post, I wanted to show you guys what it's like to travel during China's National Day holiday. This is probably the worst time to travel because almost everyone in China has a holiday and wants to travel to some other cities in the country for fun. The crowds you see in each cities tourist attractions is enough to make you faint (stay tuned for future posts!).
We called a Didi (China's Uber) and went on our way to the train station.
The train was the most packed I had ever seen it. Usually, I stand where that big crowd is, but I couldn't that day because you don't want to stand in a place where there are hordes of people walking by and getting their tickets checked to get on their train. Bad idea.
The Train
The train ride to Tianjin isn't very long from my city, Qinhuangdao. It only takes about 1.5 hours to get there but we wanted to travel to Xi'an the next day because that train ride from Tianjin to Xi'an is over 6 hours long. The train ride alone would take over 7.5 hours but you also have to factor in the time waiting in the train station for the next train and immersing yourself with more lines and crowds. We broke the trip up into 2 parts to make this experience less resemble hell on earth.
The Airbnb
We booked a nice Airbnb for Tianjin but it only had one loft and a sofa bed. We played rock, paper, scissors to see who would get the loft lol. Unfortunately I lost and Johnathan was able to sleep upstairs. I ain't made though, he actually told me that the sofa bed was more comfortable the next morning hahaha.
This was the first part of our journey and we had fun travelling to Tianjin even though it was pretty hectic. It was nothing compared to Xi'an though. My God...
Stay tuned for that...

I was going to travel but on the Saturday I saw the amount of people at the subway and thought no way lol. I haven't been to Tianjin, can't wait to go sometime!
Tianjin is really modern and clean. I suggest checking it out one day.
