Drinking A Cold Zambezi Beer On The Zambezi River

Hi I'm Danny! I'm travelling around the world! Follow my posts.

After seeing the Mosi-oa-Tunya ("The Smoke that Thunders") up close yesterday we wanted a chance to experience the Zambezi River away from the noise of the falls.

On the banks of the river we came across a Baobab tree - one of the most iconic trees in the whole of Africa.

These trees can live over 1200 (!) years, and grow to a diameter of 15 metres. They are huge!

There were crocodiles and hippos everywhere we looked. Nearly all the locals here have a story from their childhood that involves this river and the animals in it killing their friends or loved ones.

As I mentioned in a previous post the hippos are renowned for being the most dangerous animal in Africa.

No river cruise on the Zambezi river would be complete without a cold Zambezi beer.

As the sun went down we could hear the sounds of the hippos in the distance echoing mixing with all the sounds of the bush. The colours started to get brighter and brighter.

If you are in Livingstone or Victoria Falls this really is one of the best ways to spend an evening on the beautiful Zambezi river.

What is your favourite river in the world?

Hippos are definitely no joke...

First of all thanks for taking us to an amazing tour through this post, i really shocked to hear about that tree, literally 1200 years of existence is an amazing thing and yes hippos are one of the dangerous animals in the water and they don't like anyone roaming around them and it's really risky to roam close to them. Addon effect of this post is that unique tree and sunlight because the evening sunlight reflects as an magical moment and it's really breathtaking to watch. Wishing you an great day. 🙂

Stay Blessed.
