The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - LGBT+ Edition Week 1

This is the first installment of a weekly project where I will attempt to curate some of the best and worst content regarding the LGBT+ community here on Steemit. If you posted using the #lgbt or #transgender tags, I assume you wanted our attention. You got it, for better or worse.

I will not include any of my own content.

Any commentary here is my own and is not implied to represent anyone else's point of view.

The Good

@andrevamp writes this story about the struggles we all face balancing friendship, love, family, and life in general. A powerful "coming out" story that is well worth the time to translate, if Spanish is not your native language. This post pays out in about an hour, so show her some love!

@ferryaying writes this piece about the discrimination facing LGBT+ people in the Philippines.

An excerpt:
"School should be safe places for everyone. but in the philippines, students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) too often find that their schooling experience is marred by bullying, discrimination, lack of access to lgbt-related information, and in some cases, physical or sexual assault. These abuses can cause deep and lasting harm and curtail students right to education, protected under philippines and international law."

The Bad

@son-of-satire doesn't ask if we should be raising awareness for rich white Christian men.

@angelicaperduta seems to be either so self-destructive that s/he needs professional psychiatric help, or is an impostor trying to perpetuate stereotypes about transgender women.

@cadwell is a great guy who was robbed recently. :'(

@techstar needs you to know that he has rights he would deny to you so much that he will flirt with stalking and harassment to make sure you do.

@newq demonstrates a limited understanding of biology.

@arevolution uses some pretty convoluted "logic" to explain "The Transgender Agenda"

The Ugly
