Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people often suffer from discrimination in the workplace and at school.
Discrimination occurs when a distinction has been made in favor of or against a category of people. although there are no federal laws that protect lgbt people from discrimination in the workplace or at school, there are some state and local laws and many company policies that can provide help to those who are being mistreated.

School should be safe places for everyone. but in the philippines, students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) too often find that their schooling experience is marred by bullying, discrimination, lack of access to lgbt-related information, and in some cases, physical or sexual assault. These abuses can cause deep and lasting harm and curtail students right to education, protected under philippines and international law.

One way that schools can address bullying and discrimination and ameliorate their effects is by providing educational resources to students, teachers, and staff to familiarize them with lgbt people and issues. Unfortunately, positive information and resources regarding sexual orientation and gender identity are exceedingly rare in secondary schools in the philippines. When students do learn about lgbt people and issues in schools, the messages are typically negative, rejecting same sex relationship and transgender identities as immoral or unnatural.
People around the world face violence and inequality-- and sometimes torture, even execution-- because of who they love, how they look, or who they are. sexual orientation and gender identity are integral aspects of our selves and should never lead to discrimination or abuse. Human rights watch works for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people's rights, and with activists representing a multiplicity of identities and issues. We document and expose abuses based on sexual orientation identity worlwide, including torture, killing and executions,arrest under unjust laws, unequal treatment, censorship, medical abuses, discrimination in health and jobs and housing, domestic violence, abuses against children, and denial of family rights and recognation.

The two primary sources that have the power and ability to diminish discrimination against lgbt youths are schools and parents. In my opinion, they are the ones who have the greatest influence on lgbt youth and in turnhave the ability to reduce substance abuse, education failure, and suicides. parents and schools need to realize how much they can help diminish the effects of discrimination against lgbt youth if they work together and productively clearly, if they reamain on he same page they can ease the agony for lgbt youth and help them live a normal and happylife.

We must Take Good Care of Yourself and learn to Cope. One of the best ways you can fight discrimination is by taking goog care of yourself. your survival is not just important; it's an act of revolution. make your life revolutionary by exercising, eating healthy , and finding ways to de-stress day.

This was a good write on LGBT issues. It sucks to hear how much abuse other people go through. I agree that teachers and parents play a huge role in discrimination. If people are taught to look at LGBT people negatively, it is evident that it is a problem within the society and not the individuals.

let us fight for discrimination

It's sad to hear that people are still facing discrimination in schools and in workplaces. I was strongly bullied in high school for being gay before I even knew I was gay... this was in Canada, it still happens everywhere I'm sure.

With continued dialogue I think we are slowly getting closer and closer to a more inclusive world. Many places are still incredibly backwards though!

let us be who we are no matter what they've say still we are free to show the world what really we are.

This is very good insight into the challenges faced by LGBT people, particularly youth, in the Philippines. I’m sorry that people choose to discriminate and be ingnorant instead of being open to hearing your heart and struggles.

I hope you continue to be bold and confident to share these topics and essentially make people face it even thought they don’t want to. Please keep writing and being a voice for the Philippine LGBT community.

I think your post would be a great addition for review to win 5 STEEM. Read and submit your post here: https://steemit.com/lgbt/@betterbeing/lgbt-global-awareness-initiative-30-steem-giveaway

Thank you for sharing this. Too often, we forget that people's struggles look different in different parts of the world.
