Beyond Dirty Politics

in #informationwar5 years ago

In today's post I'd like to share my thoughts on the deeper layers underneath the whole Warren versus Sanders episode. First a word of caution: this is not a conspiracy theory, rather a very plausible sequence of events and motivations. This is what lays beyond dirty politics.

Qui bono? Whenever anything happens in politics (or in the economy for that matter) that seems out of the ordinary, something "unexpected," the first thing to answer is: who benefits? Here we have a democratic primary race with two progressives, one real and one fake (read yesterday's lengthy post for more on that), taking on the political establishment as a whole, and the party elite of the Democrats in particular, represented by the front runner Joe Biden. It's four or eight more years without change if Biden wins the nomination, and it wouldn't matter who becomes president if the choice is Trump or Biden; in both scenarios the endless wars go on, there will be no medicare for all, no accelerated move toward a greener, more sustainable economy, no getting rid of medical- and student-debts. With the two progressives quibbling, Biden is the clear and grateful winner.

All over the internet independent news sources are now united against Warren's move to smear Sanders as a sexist, and it's not as if this was unexpected: back in 2016 the same strategy was used by the media and the Democratic establishment who backed Clinton over Sanders, by spreading baseless stories about the "Bernie bros," alleging that his movement consisted of white men almost exclusively, giving credence to insinuations of racism and sexism in his campaign. This move is nothing new. It's also no secret that the mainstream media hates real progressives who actually want to upset the current political and economical power structure, and they will do anything to misrepresent reality in such a way that it benefits the candidates who will safeguard their status quo. All over the internet you can find articles now blaming CNN, the moderators of the already infamous Iowa debate, for blatantly attacking Bernie Sanders; even Morning Joe and Tucker Carlson of all people came rushing to Bernie's defense. Here's a snippet from that Fox News article:

The party's funders on Wall Street will recoil in terror at what's to come. They'll be joined in that terror by the establishment class in New York and Los Angeles, as well as by the entire intelligence and foreign policy bureaucracies in Washington. And all of them -- all of these people -- will demand to know one thing: How did this happen? How did Bernie Sanders become the Democratic nominee?
source: Fox News

If even Fox News can get it right... What's frustrating about this is that I predict this entire episode will do nothing to finally do away with the myth of a "leftist" or "liberal" media. There clearly is no such thing and these few exceptions of truthful reporting make that case; overwhelmingly the mainstream is defending Warren or just gloating about their quibble. They gloat because they want a moderate to win; Biden, Buttigieg, Klobuchard are the mainstream media's darlings, and now that Sanders is threatening to upset their fluffy deal, no effort is spared to deny him the win. Now consider this: CNN reported on the leak days before the CNN moderated debate in Iowa. Then the CNN reporter asked Sanders and Warren about the private conversation they had, resulting in the breakup between the two progressives. In the same debate all questions directed at Senator Sanders were framed in a way that favors right wing ideologies. He was asked "how will you prevent the country from going bankrupt" when implementing things that help the people like medicare for all and free college. Questions are never framed this way when they're about funding the next war, the next tax cut for the rich or the next deregulation that benefits the financial elite. This would be hilarious if it wasn't the sad truth that these are exactly the things that DID bankrupt the country and much of the rest of the world.

CNN had this script prepared a long time ago; they and much of the mainstream media had already decided beforehand, just like the Obama campaign did, that they would try to stop Bernie should he become a real threat. They were just waiting for a chance to go public with the accusations they had prepared long ago, and the Warren leak provided them with just that. Elizabeth Warren's campaign went downhill when she published her plans for implementing medicare for all; this plan is a joke and it's designed to fail as she proposes a public option first and only in her third year as president would she start implementing medicare for all. Anyone who knows anything about politics knows it's gonna be one hell of an uphill battle to pass even one round of elections in congress and senate, and Warren says we'll do TWO rounds, the second and only important one in a period when all eyes are on preparing for the next election.

Now I don't know how much of this little episode has been a concerted effort between the Warren campaign, Warren herself and CNN, but just like her plan for universal healthcare this latest and vicious move of a sexist smear against the one person you've called your friend, your ideological brother in arms, is designed to fail the progressive project. Biden wins. Bernie's account of what went on in the contested conversation between him and Warren is completely believable: he says that he told Warren that she would have to deal with Trump's sexist attacks if she were to become the nominee, which is completely rational and friendly advice given in a private conversation. Biden, by the way, said exactly the same thing about Clinton having to deal with Trump's sexism in public, but he was never confronted with that of course. Now we're three weeks before the actual race begins, Biden is leading the national polls, Bernie shares the lead with him in the early states. And Warren has a choice: attack Biden, who claims sexism will be something to reckon with, or attack Sanders, who also claims sexism will be something to reckon with. She decided to try to demolish Bernie's chances against Biden. She decided to hurt the progressive cause and help the establishment, just like she did in 2016.

Let's not forget that Warren did NOT endorse Sanders in the 2016 elections, when Sanders encouraged her to pick up the progressive mantle and run against Clinton. No, she endorsed Clinton, the establishment candidate, choosing the woke signalling of supporting the female candidate instead of Sanders' real progressive politics. Let's not forget that Warren has a history of lying for political gain. Another lie in the debate was when Warren claimed to be the only person to have beat an incumbent Republican in the past 30 years. Sanders corrected her by reminding her that he did exactly that in 1990, a point in time when Warren herself was still a Republican. She lied about her heritage, she lied about her losing her job because she's a woman, she voted for all Trump's expanded military budgets, she doesn't want to remove money from politics, she doesn't want medicare for all. She's a complete and total fake progressive, and I wouldn't put it past her to have made a deal with the Biden campaign; maybe he'll give her a nice station in his administration, should he become the candidate and beat Trump.

This is wishful thinking of course; Biden doesn't stand a chance against Trump in a time when the last thing people want is more of the same. All latest presidents were chosen on an agenda of ever more radical change; people are sick and tired of "business as usual," as it entails endless wars, growing inequality and people going bankrupt and dying because they don't have adequate healthcare, while corrupt bankers are bailed out to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars and wars of regime change are waged overseas for even more dollars. Warren decided to give CNN and the rest of the mainstream media what they've been waiting for; an opportunity to smear the real progressive and further uplift Biden. I swear these people would rather give Trump a second term than see Bernie Sanders organize the people against their big money interests. Make no mistake; all bets are off now and the propaganda campaign to prevent a Sanders presidency will now go into full gear. Expect further attacks on him, expect large media campaigns trying to scare you away from medicare for all. The one bright side to this whole affair is that it seems to have thus-far backfired: people are asking their money back that they donated to the Warren campaign. As I said earlier, this attack was so obvious, the accusation so improbable that even in the mainstream some couldn't defend it with a straight face. Bernie has again broken his own record in raising funds from small individual donors during the disastrously bad debate. But Biden is still the front runner and Bernie and Warren both missed a golden opportunity to attack him, especially Warren, who could have leveled the same sexism attack on Biden, but instead chose to attack Sanders. Think of that what you will, but my mind is made up: Warren is a snake who always lies in a way that paints herself a victim, and she knowingly chose to aid the party establishment by handing Biden this beautiful gift. Or at least she tried to.

Related to this is the ongoing impeachment against Trump, which smells like yet another scheme that's designed to fail, and above that designed to diminish the chances of the two progressive candidates. One fake and one real; don't forget. Both Sanders and Warren will have to be present at the hearings and be prevented from campaigning for the duration. Ultimate party establishment member, speaker of The House Pelosi, seems to be doing everything in her power to make the proceedings as lengthy as possible. They knew from the very beginning that they had a weak case at best and a self-damaging case at worst, and that Trump would never be voted out of office by the Senate. Besides that, the Democratic party elite don't have the moral high ground here, as they are complicit in supporting hawkish neoliberal policies demanded by their big money donors. Everything is set in motion, not just the mainstream media, but both political parties' establishments in concert to stop Bernie's rise to the top. Let's just make sure it doesn't work, let's for once see through their dirty politics, okay?

I watched the debate, and I thought Bernie handled the absurd waste of time set him up question very well.
I knew that question had been asked specifically to harm Bernie even as I watched it, but I heard an analyst say, after the debate, that Bernie had "slipped on a banana peal" regarding that question. Of course he had done no such thing, it was just another attempt to portray him as a bumbling pathetic Woody Allen character, but I knew at that moment that the whole event, including the analyses afterwards, had been deliberately staged. I keep hoping smart people will see through the utter sham freak show our congress and executive branches have become, but they fall for this shit every time, which frightens me to death.

(if you want to read my take on it)

Did you make up your mind when Trump exposed Pocahontas or after she attacked her friend Bernie? :-)

Pocahontas is a professional liar with zero credibility, but hey - she's got a vagina and we need one in the White House pronto! Didn't Obama say that women are much better leaders than men (after he defeated one)? :-)

Now you know why the Trump's supporters are calling CNN #fakenews.

The left has ran out of people they can call racist, sexist, *phobic,... now they have to go after each other. Who's more woke: an old commie or a Native American woman? It's popcorn time.
