Sometimes, when I look back at the enthusiasm with which we all stepped into 2020 with, I just break down disappointed. We all believed that 2020 will be a stepping stone to greatness and truly it seemed so at first but halfway through January, we started seeing shades of this horror series called 2020.
It started in January, with news of the COVID-19 Pandemic spreading rapidly across countries like China, Italy and Spain. It seemed like the only problem until we started seeing shades of WW3 looming across the Middle East with the involvement of US military in the Air Strike that killed the Iranian military commander and the bombing outside Iraq (gladly that didn't happen). I was still thinking about what it would feel like, then on February the Forest Fire which nearly leveled Australia, endangering most of their native animal species. I really felt pity and concern for them.
Episode 3 started in March with the confirmation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria. On the 24th of March, schools and all public event centers were shut down nationwide and the same period US recorded it's greatest stock market drop in a single day. And that's where the shit show began. April introduced the Black Lives Matter (BLM) protest following the murder of George Floyd by a White Police officer. If that wasn't enough, admist the protests going on, Jacob Blake was shot too by a White police officer and videos resurfacing where some cops admitted to extreme racist behaviors turned the protests violent.
June/July saw major rises in the death rate of victims of the COVID-19 pandemic and the hacking of twitter.
In August 4th, A massive explosion at a Beirut port, by the accidental detonation of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate, killed at least 190 people and injured thousands of others. And on August 28th, popular actor Chadwick Boseman, known popularly by his character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as the "Black Panther" or "King T'challa" died after a four year battle with colon cancer which none of his fans knew about. And within that same period, deadly wildfire spread across California. Meanwhile in Nigeria, series of attacks have been spreading across the northern states especially in Bauchi and Borno State.
September saw a little calmness, but like all horror movies it's that calm, quiet moment before something major happens. It was calm but not without actions. The nationwide lockdown due the pandemic was released and schools were allowed to resume. We all felt a little relief as we were all hoping to return to normalcy but unfortunately the year 2020 had other plans for us.
As we stepped into the grand month October, nation wide reports of police brutality at the hands of the Special Anti Robbery Squad popularly known as SARS were spreading rapidly with it's death toll climbing rapidly. On the 8th of October, the End Sars protest began, although it started as a peaceful protest, it started becoming violent with the constant attacks on the protesters. On the 11th, the IGP ordered for the dissolution of Sars and the introduction of a new unit SWAT. That puny move shocked all Nigerians because it was a clear insult to the youths of Nigeria, same people, new names and uniforms.

Note: The reason for the protests on the scrapping of SARS was their illegal mounting of road blocks, their criminal profiling on youths especially males based on good looks, expensive gadgets and tattoos. Their infringement on the human rights such as Right to life, freedom of speech, freedom of movement. Their extortion on youths and the torture and murder of over 30 youths.

Sadly, the protest slowly started turning really violent in many states, with the employment of hoodlums known as pro SARS to disrupt the protests. And finally 20th October proved to be a tipping scale.
A very remarkable date which has gone down in the history books as one of the darkest days in Nigeria. 20/10/2020; The day Nigerian youths were massacred by their own government. It started with the CBN freezing the bank accounts of prominent Nigerians supporting the End SARS movement. Then by 4pm that day, a 24hr curfew was imposed by the Lagos state government during the same time some people allegedly working for the Lagos State government and the Lekki Concession Company, removed the security cameras in Lekki Toll gate which was a hot spot for the protests. Later that evening, the lights around the Lekki tollgate axis were turned off (which has never occurred before). Few minutes after that, Armed men from the Nigerian Military opened fire on unarmed protesters, killing scores and injuring many more.
On 21st, the Lagos State government denied any of those happening while more videos of the shooting were posted on the internet. The governor of Lagos had said that there were no casualties from the incident of the previous day but later tweeted that there had been reports of one casualty which negated the report sent in by various Twitter and Instagram users who had live recordings of the killings. While the protesters gathered again at the Lekki toll gate where the shooting took place on Tuesday 20 October, they were forced out by police. While the protesters defied the curfew imposed by the Lagos state Governor, hoodlums burnt about 30 government buses at a bus station. Also burnt was Television Continental Station (TVC) linked to a former governor of the state, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Although the Authorities did not deny carrying out a crackdown, they refused to claim the deaths as of 21 October 2020. Brutality by the police forces made the protesters more angry intensifying the scale of the protests.
On the 22nd of October, armed men began shooting at protesters in Oyigbo, Port Harcourt. The attackers began breaking into homes, murdering those inside, and afterwards, torching down properties. It has been rumoured the shooters were Fulani herdsmen, but there is no verification for this claim. And in Aba, protests turned violent drastically with a number of both civilians and police officers killed. Such was also the case in many states in Nigeria like Rivers, Edo, Oyo, Ekiti, Plateau etc which led to the governments of such states imposing curfews on said states including Abia State, which is my location.
Days after the massacre in Lekki, Lagos, it was discovered in some states like Lagos, Oyo and Cross River that there were warehouses filled with COVID-19 pallatives which were donated by the EU but hoarded by the government. They were looted and many states are still discovering theirs.

Currently the situation is somewhat calming down, although there's still the issue of the strike action by the Academic Staffs Union of Universities (ASUU) which has made it impossible for most federal universities to resume. But we hope and pray they'll be resolved soon.
And there the Victory of Joe Bidden in the just concluded Presidential election in US and the production of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Althrough 2020 has been an eventful year, with each month bringing new events and basically all parts of the world having a fair share of those events.

I'm also agree with @SteemAlive. This fits better in a great post. You have detailed even the fire in Australia. I was sad about that because forest' and animals were being affected by this unexpected event. Such a great participation @nehklaus. Wish you the best for the rest of this year and the following ones. We hope this to end ASAP. Regards. #onepercent #venezuela #affable

Thank you dear

This deserves to be a post @nehklaus. Honestly. Just copy it and make it as a post because you are so detailed in making a chronicle of all the major events around the world. We hope to overcome these world shockers and have a more stable life. We are just not sure that everything will return to normal anytime soon.

Hello there! For sure my 2020's plannings were completely dropped to the floor with a loud and big crash because at 31th December of last year I got out from house with a case to wish a lot of great travellings (it is a venezuelan tradition to do in this date at almost midnight, for all those that want to travel a lot and this was my aspect to chill out and expand my mind: I love to know new places, people, cultures and taste new food of course), so if you see my holidays pictures they are all in white lol. 🤣 There is still no authorization for planes to make flights so that they can avoid the spreading of coronavirus and the scarcity of petrol generated by this economic crisis got a worst situation at the same time; so, nobody can easily travel even by highways, at least now it is so expensive to visit another city. Although president has announced recently that airport's operations will be restarting at 1st December to hold the tourism. I was also planning to prepare my college documents to start studying a master degree in a foreign country, so I could not travel to the headquarters of my university located at the coast of venezuela and take my education papers that I already begged from last year, then go to the capital in Caracas to complete the process of legalization. Now I am trying to seize my available time to dedicate in my own social media by creating new contents and carrying out my freelancing activities of engineering and flute music meanwhile this is occurring for a long period. Maybe we will be spending another whole year being worried about getting infected by this COVID-19 if we don't take the proper measurements. That is all my 2020's summary, affected by this sudden and dangerous virus in this way. Thanks for reading. Cheers!

@alegnita. Amazing story. No thanks to COVID19. We hope you are able to finish your master's degree and do all the things you wanted to do. We are.sorey about the delays, but hope things will eventually settle next year. We wish you all the best.

@soloben To God be the glory this is a year that i can not forget in life,COVID19,but who keep us alive glory be to him,all the best

That's the most important. To keep life at the end of the year as I saw in a meme. 😅 No matter how hard is situation, things happen to learn something about. My greetings to you @soloben. Let's seize this 2020 anyway. 🙂 #onepercent #venezuela #affable

U are welcome,it nice to no you

Yes. I'm sure for this. During lockdown I've learned a lot and discovered Steemit. Forgot this important part. But well, to know all about cryptocurrencies is my new goal from now on. Thanks for your comment, 🙂 we'll be seeing each other soon in any LID of Steem Alive. Regards. 👋 #onepercent #venezuela #affable

In terms of covid 19 I'd say that it has changed me a whole lot. In terms of;

  • Stopping my school education abruptly although ASUU now plays a major role.
  • Joining the steemit blockchain.
  • Getting a job.
  • Registering for gym classes.
  • Traveling for burial due to the loss of a loved one.

Before the start of the year and two months into it I never thought I would be doing all this and more.

I had already envisioned finishing this year and serving the next year. Though things are a bit flexible in my country but the ASUU strike still keeps most Nigerian students at home.

I'm grateful that I'm alive to witness all that has happened so far and I know it has strengthened to be better and withstand more challenging situations.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Becky.

I also joined Steemit during this long lockdown. So sorry to know about you lost a beloved one, it's the worst news that anyone can receive ever in the life. Very soon will be carrying out our plans for sure. With the grace of God. Wish you a big day Becky. Hope you're having great ones. My Cheers! 👋 #onepercent #venezuela #affable

@beckie9638 even though there are several ups and downs in this year, you still had a wonderful series of achievements. Joining steemit is one of it. Thank you for joining the contest. Keep on enjoying. We hope for better days ahead in Christ millennial rule.

Steemit is a great world. Given an opportunity to give details on this year's life event is a privilege.
Throughout this year, we've heard a lot of saddened stories that turns one life updown. This started from the early hours people from crossover night shouting;

Year of prosperity, my case is different.

These are some of the slogans I overheard but all to no avail. Conditions became more worst because the bible describes the last days to be critical.
I quote from 2nd Timothy chapter 3:1

But know this, that in the last days critical time hard to deal with will be here.

Any preaching beyond this is a deciet because God's children know that the world conditions indicate that God's time to act is close.
My expectations this year, though thwarted was filled with hope. No body is exempted. It affected everybody. At a point even, it equalizes the rich and the poor. We all swam in the same ocean of misfortune.
This year supposed to be my final year, but schools were all closed.
Thus, it elongated the time range of my academic years. So I admit that🤷🏿‍♀️🤷🏿‍♀️ and as a result I'll be graduating next year.
During the Covid 19 pandemic, school was closed, I couldn't stay without doing anything to save money. I started crayfish business in front of our house with my nose mask. That yield me some savings I used to buy the phone I'm using now. Isn't that an achievement?😆😆😆
After a while, that was few months later, I told myself, 'My studies will suffer if I fill my sense with making money' so I decided to go to a clinic to acquire some experience in my medical skills. It was after this I met steemit. @focusnow introduced this to me since I'm looking for a part-time job to sustain myself. The worst thing on Earth is staying without making some savings though it's part of life's challenges.
Even at the toughest time, I always perceive God's loyal love.
