My passion for agriculture began as an 8-year-old child. At that time I lived in a rural suburb of large areas. My father and my grandparents were country people, they were very familiar with the origins of sowing.
The work of agriculture was to prepare the land for planting, we planted corn, manioc, squash, tomatoes, peppers, different vegetables and vegetables, today I want to share with you all the manual process that we carried out with my grandmother and my mother in planting cucumber. This procedure is called an organic procedure because no fertilizer or pesticide is used. Only hangover or cow dung.

This vegetable has a scientific name "Cucumis sativus" belong to the segment of "ucurbitáceas" but they are recognized as "cucumbers" also called "uruaru, sikuos and cucumeres"
These vegetables originate from "India" in that country they are planted more than "3000 years" the countries of greatest production are "China, Turkey, Iran, United States, Spain"
There are many varieties of "cucumbers", according to their sizes or their origin today we will see the best known.

As we can see there are different varieties of cucumbers, in today's post I want to talk about "Criollo Cucumbers".
The "cucumber" plant is like a guide or vine can develop flush with the soil but it is desirable to develop upwards so that the fruit grows better, its fruits are elongated and vary in size, inside it has "small seeds "
Fuente: http://www.gruposacsa.com.mx/control-de-plagas-de-pepino/
The work to plant the "cucumber" is very simple, it has five fundamental steps, to clean the earth, to remove the earth, to fertilize the earth, to plant and to transplant, it is fundamental the preparation of the land for the success of the harvest.
The work begins by cleaning very well the surface to be planted, in this procedure removes all the yuyo or the grass with a hoe of hand, as we see in the image
Fuente: https://azadaybarro.wordpress.com/category/permacultura/segunda-clase-de-permacultura/

The next job is to fertilize the soil, fertilizer is mixed with the soil, here we use cow dung and hangover, the hangover is achieved in the forest, the leaves and sticks that fall to the ground are disseminated and Are mixed with the earth, this mixture of sticks, herbs and black soil is what we call hangover, others use garbage previously buried and scattered in the earth, once fertilized the surface, we have to rake the soil to leave the surface Smooth, as we see in the image.

Once matched to the ground, we are in a position to prepare our soul, we pull a few strands to form the rectangle 2 meters long by 70 centimeters wide, this is where we are going to plant our "Pepino" seed, see the image.
Fuente: http://agenciaagrariabolivar.blogspot.com.ar/2013_07_01_archive.html
Once the soul is made, we are ready to begin sowing. The "cucumber" proliferates from its own seed, begins to be planted between August and September after the intense cold has passed, the seeds are taken and distributed throughout and throughout our soul,
The plants of "cucumber" undergoes the "low temperatures", for that reason the storage one has to cover them with some plastics as we see in the image.

Soon the plants will start to come out, it is essential to do the maintenance of cleaning by removing all the weeds, water frequently but not too much the plant can not be submerged in water, the plant is ready to "transplant in 10 or 20 days" Of the date of planting or when it has a size of "10 to 15 cm of height" as we see in the image.
Fuente: https://es.dreamstime.com/foto-de-archivo-lnea-verde-fresca-de-la-cosecha-del-pepino-image51754528
The "Pepino" plant needs a lot of sun, more than six hours a day, protected from the wind and cold, before transplanting we have to choose the place very well and prepare the final storeroom, we must throw some straps to plant as straight as possible leaving A space of one meter between each file. As we see in the image
Fuente: https://agricultorfindesemana.wordpress.com/tag/patatas/
Once we have made the files and the soul, we are able to transplant our plant "cucumbers", we must plant a plant in each hole leaving a space of 50 to 60cm between each plant, as we see in the video
Fuente: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8nVWi8L7fPCjOMpSSNAM0Q
We must remember that this plant is suitable to grow up and when the fruits begin to come out they will weigh, for this reason we must make the trestles or a lattice so that the plant can develop and support the weight of the fruit, as we see in the picture.
Fuente: http://agricolamontorofernandez.blogspot.com.ar/2015_10_01_archive.html
The "cucumber" plant will be ready to harvest at "40 to 70 days" from the date of having transplanted, harvesting the "cucumber" is very simple only to remove the fruit of the plant, it is advisable to remove the fruit from the cucumber Every time it is going to consume, to keep them always fresh, watch the video

"Cucumber" as a "cosmetic" use is a "skin moisturizer, skin bleach, vitamins B and C" ideal for making "creams, masks and gel" "oily skin, sensitive skin, wrinkles"
"Medicinal" uses a lot of "mucilages, essence, vitamin C, carotenes, amino acids, cellulose" can be used as "demulcent, antipruritic, emollient, diuretic, depurative, for cystitis, urolithiasis, oliguria, topical"
The "cucumber" in my province is used in many ways, can be consumed raw, in vinegars, pickled, salads, baked, stuffed, fried or breaded.

A spectacular post and my dear friend @jlufer as a cucumber fan the new ways to use the cucumber are very much appreciated. Chips and baked huh? Baked, stuffed zucchini is ever so good too
If this vegetable has many ways of use, other very healthy and tasty, very good as a medical product, thank you dear friend @ jeff-kubitz for your kind words
@sift666's favourite vege is what we call zucchini chips, though it's different than above. I peel them, cut the ends off, then slice on a slight diagonal. Toss them in some melted lard (or other nice fat) with salt, and sometimes some dried basil. Bake at 175C for at least an hour, turning over periodically. They're tastiest when they're cooked enough to be caramelised.
Great recipe lady @kiwideb, thanks for sharing
Cucumber in my country is used become pickles. We ussually eat pickles with fried noodle and fried rice ! Nice posting ! :)
The cucumber is very healthy and delicious, thank you dear friend for sharing your experience
What a wonderfully detailed post! I've never seen pictures of them growing on trees like that. I think I imagined they would be low bushes with just a few. I've put an extra recipe idea in reply to @jeff-kubitz. Well, it's very like baked cucumber, but in more detail.
Is a guide plant, is usually raised to the ground like the pumpkin, but the fruit becomes very sick, that is why bars are made so that the guide climbs and keep the fruit away from the floor.
A very healthy vegetable, not only as food, also as mediciana or aesthetic as skin creams or cellulite.
Many thanks Mrs. @kiwideb for this pleasant visit, I saw that you have an excellent blog, I am pleased to make your follower,
