Project CARS 2 Review - Digital Racing at its best

in #gaming7 years ago (edited)

For whom racing on the real track is caught too high, there are always plenty of racing games that can fill the void of that dream. Project CARS 2 is the latest in the genre and offers a complete race experience. Whether that experience is worth money, you will find out in this Project CARS 2 review.

The Project CARS series is one with an unusual birth. Where a game usually occurs in a publisher's stables, developer Slightly Mad has assisted the public to realize the first Project CARS. Through crowdfunding the development of the racesim was a fact and the game was embraced by many lovers.

However, the title was not perfect. The controller with a controller was anything but easy, the game contained a bunch of bugs, and in terms of content, it was a bit upset. A few points of attention so that now, two years later, have to be resolved by a follow-up. Project CARS 2 must offer the same experience as the original, but this time with a lot of extra fine tuning .

And in order to fall into the house right away; Project CARS 2 knows how to convey profesional racing experience to the digital asphalt. This by a combination of factors, starting with the content you get this time. Because there is a lot of this time. Project CARS 2 is about 60 circuits rich with a total of more than 130 different layouts.

Huge amount of content

From La Source on the circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, up to the German Nurburging Nordschleife circuit; You can not think so much about it or it's found in the game. This along with the fact that the majority of jobs with special techniques are even more complicated. Bumps in the road are more palpable if you drive over your head and other small details are noticeable.

And there are quite a few cars in Project CARS 2 to make the digital circuit unsafe. The game has allowed huge numbers of licenses to embrace and the lack of cars in the first part has been swept away from the card.

But that does not stop because every head on that long list has its own way of driving. Project CARS 2 is not called a simulation game for no reason. Really any option you can think of is to adapt to your vehicle. And you will definitely need that, because each circuit is different and gives the race box a different challenge.

For the gourmets

All the options and variables that need to be taken into account may be terrifying for some racing fans. It is therefore good to report that Slightly Mad has thought of it and stopped a digital help in the game that can help you choose the right settings and equipment. Nevertheless, Project CARS 2 remains a real simulator at the core, making the entry threshold slightly higher.

Breaking a whole race of shelf gas is not included here. That's more for games from the Need for Speed series . Souplesse is a must and playing with a steering wheel and pedals is also preferred. You can even play the game on the PC even in VR.

In the original Project CARS, it was almost impossible to master the circuits with a controller, and in the future this is still the case, if it has become a lot less serious. The biggest problem remains that sending a poke is not as accurate as a steering wheel, which makes some bolides difficult to keep on track. Especially when you are in the first round and the tires are still cold. Certainly something to keep in mind when purchasing Project CARS 2.

Wrestling with the dynamic weather

Realism is the core word of this racer and by far the most conspicuous element that contributes to this is the dynamic weather system; LiveTrack 3.0 mentioned in the game. During a race, the weather can change at random. For example, a sunny day can turn into a rich rain festival. All of that, of course, affects the road surface, but not because the road surface is wet.

This can cause puddles that will also remain when it stops raining. If the job is largely dried up again, then one such water can make sure that you suddenly get into trouble. It is also possible to set this time in which season it is driven, which also affects both the weather and the appearance of the circuit.

This dynamic system is by far the most impressive part of the game, and it is therefore not very bad that Slightly Mad has performed well in advance. In this way, the gameplay is raised to a higher level, but the images that are projected on the screen do not lie. Project CARS 2 looks and sounds beautiful.

Some minor imperfections

Auto eyes look very detailed and circuits look beautiful. Also note that the frame rate is a bit more stable this time than in the original and it can be concluded that the audiovisual experience in Project CARS 2 is excellent. That experience can be completed by playing in VR, although this feature is only available for the PC version of Project CARS 2. Only the single pop-ins that can be perceived during racing can be considered critical, but Furthermore, the game runs extremely smoothly.

However, there are a number of other points that are unfortunately not as gelicked or polished as hoped. Thus, despite the hard work of Slightly Mad, a number of bugs have passed the revue. For example, a pilon along the circuit caused the controlled bolts to flee over the head and wore an AI opponent to drill into another carriage, which caused strange scenes.

There may be incidents, but every mistake stays too much. The AI in the game is one of the weaker points of the game, because the computer does not always know intelligently about situations during a race. Certainly progress has been made compared with the first part, but there is still room for improvement in this area.

Project CARS 2 Review - Racesimulator with class

But that's not to be fun, because it's just a mess on the other hand, very fat simulation experience. Project CARS 2 looks and sounds beautiful, offers a lot of content and the dynamic weather system brings something new to the series. That the difficulty level is still quite high compared with other racing games is something you should keep in mind.

Everything has an impact on your car and it can be horrifying for some gamers. In addition, playing with a controller is still very spicy. A racing drive is highly recommended, because in this way you will experience Project CARS 2 at its purest. If you look through the single bugs, Project CARS 2 offers one of the most complete racing packages you can find on the market.

The plus and the drawbacks

✔ Huge amount of content
✔ Audiovisually beautiful
✔ Dynamic Weather System
✖ Controlling with controller remains spicy
✖ Some bugs

Thanks for reading.
