unsolved mysteries of the body

in #education7 years ago (edited)

Why should some people sneeze when they look at the sun? And why is only 10 percent of humanity left-handed? Even scientists are guessing the answers to these 10 mysteries of the human body.

Why is only 10 percent of people left-handed?

Left-handed people are in the minority in this world and in the past they were even mocked and associated with witchcraft and the devil. Those times are happily over, but there is still no explanation for this mystery. Left handedness would arise because of a degree of competition in society, according to a study from 2012 in The Journal of the Royal Society Interface . If there were no competition, the whole society would be right-handed, says the research. That explains why so many top athletes are left-handed.

Why do pregnant women have an improved sense of smell?

While scientists agree that the phenomenon exists, they do not agree on why pregnant women can smell better. The most acceptable reason is the increasing amount of estrogen, but morning sickness may also be a cause. According to others, it is important that pregnant women can distinguish toxic substances in food or in their environment so as to avoid them.

Why do we sneak when we look at strong light?

About 35 percent of the population must sneeze when seeing strong light. Hence the statement that you should look at the sun if you want to speed up the sneeze. It is indeed true that the intensity or flashing of light sneaks can elicit, but nobody knows exactly why.

Why do we dream?

Scientists still do not care why we dream and how we dream. We know that just about everyone does it, but the frequency and ability to remember the dreams differ from person to person. It is believed that dreams organize our impressions of the past day. It would also help us to process a trauma and even predict the future.

Why do we yawn?

Why do we yawn when we see someone else? Why do we ya when we bore ourselves? Due to the nature of the act, it seems logical that we yawn to get more oxygen and remove too much carbon dioxide. But there is also an evolutionary declaration that our ancestors yelled to show their teeth and deter enemies. Even though today's function has been lost.

Why are we blushing?

When we feel ashamed, our heart will hit faster and our cheeks will turn red and feel warm. This is because our body releases adrenaline and prepares itself to fight or to walk away. But why that happens in response to shame (usually no situation requiring adrenaline, even if we want to run away from pure shame) is a mystery for scientists.

Why do we have a déjà vu?

At least 60 percent of people have ever had a déjà vu. The phenomenon is associated with conditions such as anxiety disorders, depression and schizophrenia. However, there is no scientific research on how and why it happens because it is difficult to study.

Why does our body move on music?

Music has an undesirable effect on our body. It can make us happy, motivate us or make us feel depressed. But why does it make us dance? The most plausible reason is that listening to music drives us on the move because it suppresses any signal of fatigue. However, this has not been scientifically demonstrated.

Why do we forget things?

"Where are my keys?" It is a question we ask ourselves more than we love. It should be spontaneous looking for information as opposed to something we see and remind us of it. Our natural search mechanism is apparently not so efficient unless we see something that calls for a reminder.

Why do we have fingerprints?

Our fingertips develop in the uterus and are very useful to identify us. No fingertip is the same. But, according to scientists, a fingerprint should also have a different function. It could help us grab things better, it would improve the sense of touch or make the water easier to slide our hands so we get more grip on wet surfaces.
