Chicken & Corn Chowder + Rye Bread Bowls (FOOD PHOTO SHOOT)
I forgot to say Happy 1st day of July to you all this morning!!!!!
Who's ready to have an awesome summer? Well, my summer has been a little bit challenged so far so I'm putting on my positive-pants and looking at the rest of this month with rose-colored glasses!!!
Okay, about the recipe. I have been wanting to make bread bowls for what seems like such a long time! I mean, who wouldn’t love getting to eat the bowl when the soup is gone? Plus, it looks so pretty and rustic when you serve it. And I don’t know about you, but I have always loved corn chowder. I made this recipe with just chicken but it is really good with crispy bacon on top too.
I think I should mention that my soup was not quite as corny and thick as it looks in the pictures. That is due to me spending too long taking pictures and the soup being in a bread bowl that likes to absorb broth. Although, if you want it to be that corny or thick by all means add extra corn or a little extra flour. For me soup is more of an art than a recipe. Make it how you like it.
I think this would make a great weeknight meal anytime during this summer. Also, if you can get fresh corn still on the cob I think you should use that and simply cut it off the cobs. The difference in flavor and even texture is worth it.
Hope you're all enjoying your Saturday!!!

@gringalicious - I am sorry to hear that your summer has been challenging so far. I am sure that you will come out of it nicely with your positive outlook. The recipe looks delicious as usual. Unfortunately, the part of the world in which I live, chowders are not commonly available. Will have to wait for one of my trips abroad to taste it. The recipe looks very simple but attractive. The way it sits in the brown round breads is just so appetizing. Thanks for sharing.

Fabulous commenting.
Fabulous blog and recipe naturally inspired comments. Thanks for your appreciation and also for the visit to my blogs. Wish you would visit more often. Will try to keep up good blogs too along with fabulous comments :)
I would be okay if all bowls were made out of bread! 😄
Right on, Chica!!!! 😋😋😋😋😋😋
Wow your images are so mouth watering. The recipe sounds so good!! I must say I laughed out loud when you were talking about how the soup was soaked up in the bread bowl because you were shooting too long. As a photographer I get how easy it is to get caught up in visuals. Oh, I couldnt wait to see the other recipes that yo have posted. The Caramel almond Bundt cake with Khalua sounds soooo yummy. Thanks for sharing. Keep them coming!
Wonderful commenting, really. Keep this up and you'll do fantastic on here
Oh my these look like something out of an old fashioned cook book... really homely and comforting if you know what I mean! I don't eat much bread but the soup looks so thick and perfect (I like thick not thin soup) and freshly baked rye bread is soooooo tasty. You really do create the most fab food :-)
Now that is a wonderful, humbling compliment. Thanks so much @woman-onthe-wing
Seriously though, if you had a cookbook I would want it!!!
I have given thought to a cookbook, seriously. Amazon has a publishing arm, can't remember the name at the moment, but I have given considerations
I hope you do at some point. Especially since you're a photographer too you can capture your food in exactly the way you want and be in charge of the whole design. Can't keep all this beauty to yourself... and I'm not just trying to flatter you by the way!
I have considered just a photo book with minimal words. For example, a 'coffee table' book
Oh cool! I know a guy who did that with his world travel photos... hardly any text, and it worked beautifully.
Damn! Now I am hungry :)
Glad I could be here to help @askaran
@gringalicious I am on a diet but I love this "turture"
So glad you liked it @alexandruionescu
