Olivia and James had lunch at Cafe Grumpy and after lunch they went for a walk in the park. They even bought some bread to feed the ducks and it was quite funny when James nearly slipped and fell in the water. Olivia was in the mood for ice-cream and James bought her the biggest ice-cream he could find.  They sat and ate their ice-cream and they felt like little children laughing and smearing each other with ice-cream. It was the perfect Sunday afternoon.

Olivia felt almost sad when James dropped her off just after six o clock.  They both had to be at the hospital early and they were on call the whole week. They planned to have lunch sometime in the week but made no definite plans because of their respective responsibilities.

Olivia went straight up to her apartment and when she entered her bedroom, she saw the box with the doll on her bed.  She sat down on the bed and opened the box carefully.  It was the most beautiful perfect porcelain doll and she knew that the doll cost a fortune. She put the doll on the bed and searched the box for some note or a return address but there was nothing.  It was a weird thought that someone would spend so much money on a doll and not send a note.

She took the doll and added it in it's rightful place. She smiled when she looked at her collection. It has taken twelve years to complete the collection and she couldn't believe that it was finally complete. All of the dolls were vintage dolls and she picked up most of the collection in the year that she traveled after completing her studies.

She decided to go to bed early to get a good night's sleep. This week was going to be hectic. She lay in bed thinking about the wonderful day they had and smiled at the thought of James. They really got a long great and they were quickly becoming good friends. Her thoughts drifted back to the doll and she tried to figure out who would even know that she collected the dolls.

Her doll collection was part of her private life, and she always tried to keep her private life away from her work. She had her friends at work, but to them she was only a colleague. They went out together as friends but she has never brought anyone home and they were not really that close.

One of the biggest dreams Olivia had was to travel Europe.  In her final year in University she decided to follow that dream before she started working.  Ever since she was a little girl she had always loved porcelain dolls and when she was eight years old her father bought her her first porcelain doll as a birthday present. Ever since then she collected every single porcelain doll from that series, and she picked up quite a few on her travels through Europe. She searched each and every antique shop and bought every doll possible.  It was only this specific doll that she couldn't find anywhere.

During her travels she met some wonderful people and even had a short affair with a handsome young art student while she was in Paris. Jean-Pierre ....he believed that she was the love of his life, but she did not feel the same. They had some harmless fun and then she left him to start at the hospital in January. She asked him to come with her to New York, but he decided to stay.

She hadn't thought of him in years...but she always believed that he had great talent and that he would one day become a world famous painter. Unfortunately she never heard from him again. She has never been back to Paris and suddenly wondered if he was still there. She was curious about Jean-Pierre and made a mental note to try and find his address in Paris.

She fell asleep and it felt like seconds before her alarm woke her at five o clock the next morning.  She took a quick shower and then drove to the hospital. The chaos started almost immediately and it was only at 12h30 that she realized that she had nothing to eat.  She quickly texted James, and asked if he wanted to have lunch with her, and she received a text a minute later.

Meet you in ten minutes.

Those porcelain dolls are freaky.yeek

They are...but it was either a body part or a doll in the box so I opted for the doll. Somewhere that doll will play an important part in this story but I still don't have a clue where.

I do like the fact that you are building the story as you go along!!

I don't have a choice. My imagination only works one day at a time...

It may only work one day at a time, but it sure as heck works really well. I guess like you and everyone else we are all wondering the significance of the dolls.
