The blind date - Chapter 10 - Fiction

“Bastard!” James shouted and helped Olivia get up from the sidewalk. “Are you okay?” She nodded, but he could see that she was in shock. Olivia was shivering and James pulled her closer. “Let’s get you home.”  James stopped a cab and he gave the driver the address.

He paid the cab fare and got out to open the door for Olivia. She looked a little better now but as soon as she unlocked the door, James went through to the kitchen and poured them each a stiff drink. Olivia took a few sips but she was still shivering. James suggested that she take a shower, while he made a fire in the fireplace. The apartment was freezing. Olivia went into the bathroom and washed her face.

She undressed and checked her leg in the mirror. There was a terrible bruise on her left leg where she fell on the curb and after her shower she rubbed some ointment on her leg. She put on her most comfortable tracksuit pants, with her favorite stretched out jersey and tied her hair in a bun.

She put on her slippers and walked to the living room. James smiled at her when she walked in. It was warm and cosy in the living room and Olivia sat down on the couch next to him. He handed her a glass of wine and she started to feel very relaxed.

“So, do you think that Jean Pierre was behind what happened tonight?” James asked cautiously, but she just shrugged her shoulders and told him that she was not sure.

“With Jean Pierre anything is possible….. I wouldn’t put it past him.” Olivia said. “I’m just not sure what to do about it?”

“Well, I’ll be here every step of the way…..” James said and smiled at her.

" You just stop worrying and leave that bastard to me.”   Olivia smiled. “It’s not your battle to fight, but thank you. I need the support.”

Olivia changed the subject and it was obvious that she no longer wanted to think or talk about Jean Pierre.

“So tell me more about Sam, how close are you actually?” Olivia asked and smiled.

James laughed and explained the close connection he had with his brother. He told her that his father often mistook him for Sam and they once even played a trick on Sylvia, his brother’s wife. She laughed when he told her several stories about his childhood.

James opened a second bottle of wine and was just about to pour her a glass when Olivia’s cell phone rang. She excused herself and went to answer the phone. Once again it was an unknown number and when she answered it was dead silent on the other side.

“Must have been the wrong number” she thought and put her phone back on charge next to her bed. She walked back to the living room and was just about to sit down when the phone rang for a second time. She decided to let it ring and ignored it but when it rang a third time and a forth time, she felt irritated and fetched her phone. It was the same unknown number and she had no idea who it was.

She took another sip of wine and when the phone rang again, James grabbed the phone and answered.

“Who is this…what do you want?” James said anxiously. On the other side of the phone it was dead silent and when he put down the phone he could have sworn that he heard someone laughing in the back round.…

So as we know, Jean Pierre had a crush on Olivia. James knows about the obsession Jean Pierre has for Olivia, and Jean Pierre knows that Olivia and james are a couple now. So who does he go after next? James or Olivia? I guess James, and I guess that Sam ends up dead instead of james, since Sam was mentioned and discussed. Twisty mind thing. I love guessing, can't wait to see if I'm right, I was right not to long ago on another story, so most likely wrong here, but as a reader it is a fun thing to do. the guess what's coming next game.

Oh my... you are putting ideas in my head as we speak. You could be my muse...I will keep you captive somewhere in a basement..lol
