The Last Night of Palas

Sunken in the bottom of a curious bay, in a remote island of Palas, rest the scarce remains of what could have meant the destruction of the planet itself. Before the dragon's reactor was conceived, the first experiment was carried out here that attempted to harness the only energy that would be capable of tearing the universe itself, the dark energy.

A gigantic spherical cavity, torn from the island, gave the new abrupt shape to a part of the coast, which previously housed a peaceful and sunny beach, where the Laboratory for High Energy Studies of the Academia de Palas was located.

One night, seven thousand years ago, the load measurements of the dark energy reactor built there began to go out of range. The predictions of the models, projected that the arrival to the point of greater load, in which the reactor could be begun to operate, would not be achieved in months, but suddenly the maximum level was reached and surpassed, the scientific team ignored an error of exponential growth in the models, and estimated that it was a failure in the sensors.

While trying to recalibrate the new sensors, the energy that pressed the interior of the reactor trying to generate the expansion of the space it contained was overcompensated by the intense gravity that was generated to exert force in the opposite direction and this caused the unexpected expansion of the space bubble, contained in the reactor and its subsequent collapse, devastating this with the laboratory and an entire side of the island, leaving the spherical cavity that today is distinguishable at the bottom of the bay and in the abrupt gnawing walls of the mountain that before was bordered by the beach.

To this day, the only proof of the existence of the laboratory is the emergency heat dissipation system, which was one kilometer deep under the laboratory, today is exactly in the center of the circumference, just under the place where the reactor was once, submerged under eight hundred meters of water and just under two hundred of gravel of what was the subsoil of the Island and today was part of the anchorage of the bay.

Fortunately its expansion was contained by the excess of gravity produced by the gravitational generators, because otherwise, the space bubble would have extended causing the fracture of the very components of the atomic nuclei of everything around it, which could simply cause the disintegration of the planet itself.

This event went almost completely unnoticed, there was no big explosion, no lights, no noise, not even a seismic wave, that gave away the occurrence of such a devastating event, only, the following morning, when the supply transport boat arrived to make its delivery, was noticed the result of an event that could have recorded the life of an entire world. An event that could represent the last night of Palas.
