Ilmatar

Ilmatar

In several regions of the bottom of the sea of Ilmatar, were sunk several old sailboats and other types of vessels that were disincorporated from the fleets of other worlds, with the purpose of promoting the proliferation of corals, this was at the request of its new inhabitants who claimed to prefer this type of structures aa, as they claimed, monotonous beehives used in other worlds.

Although they did not resemble natural reefs as achieved with hives, they were more attractive to the eye and more interesting according to what was said at the time, who would populate this world.

Ilmatar is what would once be called a super Earth and at the same time an ocean world, a rocky planet with a mass equivalent to twice the ancient world of humanity and whose surface is completely covered by a gigantic ocean.

Its terraformation did not require a very long period of time, the deep and pure waters of its ocean, although low in salinity, were soon the propitious environment for the proliferation of a multitude of aquatic species, genetically adapted to these new conditions.

Around its equator, the only human populations that inhabit it, do so more than 40,000 kilometers away from the surface of its sea, in five space stations, of no more than 8,000 inhabitants each, mostly students and scientists from other worlds, as well as diplomats and the personnel of the consular delegations of several worlds.

On the surface, floating around the equator and automatically guided, only a small artificial village, with offices and rooms, to be temporarily occupied, when personnel are needed for conversations of some kind, with the real inhabitants of the planet.

Ilmatar is the first world that humanity dedicated to be populated only by aquatic species and directed by the Ilmatians, a species of cetaceans descended from dolphins, which had been the product of the genetic manipulation of these aquatic mammals, with the purpose of endowing them with a form of intelligence more similar to that of humans.

The Ilmatians, as they called themselves, created in Ilmatar their own world, in which they reigned over the remaining inhabitants of their ocean and became their representatives before humans when necessary.
