Pimp Your Post Thursday Report from October 19thsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #curation7 years ago (edited)

We had a great evening last night. About fifteen people were in attendance, thirteen shared posts. Another four showed up just as we wrapped up but hopefully they’ll be back next week. Some of those in attendance were there last week, great to see them back.

Success on Steemit is mostly about networking and building relationships with people who appreciate your content you create or the projects you’re engaged in. Pimp Your Post Thursday is an opportunity to do that.

Here are the posts that were shared.

God Has Been Good

@richforever was one of the first to arrive last night so I had him share first. He was having problems with his mic, so he did so via text. He shared these thoughts with us “I just wanna say everyone has a special gift and that society should accept that. People called me stupid at the beginning but now they really wanna use my advice”. His post reflects the gratitude he feels.

@richforever joins us from Ghana and has been on Steemit since July. Don't forget to visit his profile for more great posts.

VO.TU podcast commercial featuring EDWARD SNOWDEN ... you know nothing Ed Snow ...

Like @richforever, @beanz was joining us very late at night for her. Was great to see her. @beanz along with @sirlunchthehost for a time had a Sunday afternoon podcast they hosted on the VOTU discord server. They moved on to other projects for a time.

Last night we learned they are bringing back not just one podcast but two, starting this Sunday.

The first one will be hosted by @beanz. It will start about 2pm EDT on the VOTU Discord server which you can join by clicking this link. The topic will be about Edward Snowden, bitcoin, privacy and anonymity. Important subjects for all of us in these days of increasing infringements on our personal freedoms.

@beanz has been around Steemit since July 2016, Don’t forget to visit her profile for more great posts.

Pops don't cry [Writers Block Contest Entry] #YouAreHope

The Writers Block discord is a place for serious writers to help and support each other at improving their craft. The members there have been giving Pimp Your Post Thursday great support.

@twotripleow joined us from there and shared this poem which had originally been written for one of their contests. A connection happened here when @SirCork realized he was looking at a poem that had touched him with the support for his new initiative @YouAreHOPE. Neat to see posts match up with author and connect with others. Great Sharing.

YouAreHOPE is recognizing World Food Day (Oct. 16th) with an earnest call for your help to aid our fellow humans in need in Nigeria, the Philippines and Venezuela!

@SirCork shared with us a post from @yourarehope a global aid initiative which he has founded and is devoting time and resources to. He’s passionate about this work and with good reason.

Not only are the funds being raised here on Steemit to reach out and help people in impoverished areas of the world, it’s yet another demonstration of the power of a platform like Steemit to literally change people’s lives even when they are not on the platform. Awesome work!

Don’t forget to visit @yourarehope’s profile to learn more about this initiative.

Bumbler Meets Ewe

This was a first time visit for @molovelly. I’ve known her from some other discords. She is a published child’s author and is currently working on a new book. She shares the illustrations she does for her stories and some of the progress she’s made on her work.

WHY WE FAIL AND HOW WE CAN UTILIZE FAILURE

@anaman was next up. He’s from Ghana and has been struggling with internet connections in addition to the late hour to get on with us. But, last night he managed to get on voice for a bit.

His post examines how we can use failures to build our own success. Failure is not a bad thing unless we fail to learn lessons from having done so. Don’t forget to visit his profile for more great posts.

Nimble Jack

@steemitgraven29 is also from the Writer’s Block discord and he shares with us a well written short story. This was @steemitgraven29’s second visit to PYPT and we were glad to see him return. Last week he shared about pinball and this week his fiction side. Nice work on both sides. Dont forget to visit his profile for more great posts.

🥊The Crypto Struggle Podcast Episode #001 Sign Up! Private Live Event.🥊 This Sunday, Don't Miss out! TOPIC: Racism On The Blockchain, does it exist? ⚔

@sirlunchthehost shared with us about the second podcast on the VOTU server to take place right after @beanz’s. The topic will be if racism exists on the blockchain. Space for attendance is being restricted so you’ll need to sign up in the comment section as directed in the post.

I’m familiar with most of the participants. It should prove to be a lively discussion with a couple of excellent moderators. Don’t forget to visit @sirlunchthehost’s profile for more great posts.

ETH Hardfork at 17th october

@andyluy is familiar to me from another discord but until last night I didn’t realize that he posts in a second language. In his words, “I'm also running a decentralized translation project that aims to have groups of Steemians all along the world translating good quality posts between English and their mother tongue, therefore helping to greatly remove some Steemit language barriers and make it to spread faster and stronger all over the world” Some great work being done on Steemit. Second Creative Writing Challenge Task 9: From the Depths

@morodiene also joined us for the first time and shared her creative writing post. The subject of the challenge she wrote it for was to write a story involving addiction and change. When asked what motivated her to write this story she talked about her own observation of people who had been addicted over the years. It show in the context of her writing.

Polaris in Miniature

@authorofthings also joined us for the first time and shared this vivid portrayal of the ravages of abuse. Very well written.

New Photo/Story Photo Contest 5 SBD Prize

In @tattoodjay’s words, “I have been carrying her in my backpack for years and make occasionally story post with her and thought I would expand it to others. Can be a stuffed toy or anything, even a stick figure on paper LOL.. yes for me its primarily photography”

I read through this and immediately thought of my sister’s two boys and the fun they would have coming up with ideas for nana to take pictures of. A contest that could be a family activity, how cool.

@tattoodjay does some great photography posts, don’t forget to visit his profile for more great posts.

Coffee Time Meditation #29 -- Oct. 19th

Finally, I shared my most recent Coffee Time Meditation post from my @pathtosuccess account. I’ll commend that to your own thoughts.

Conclusion for Today

It was a great turn out last night and I’m most grateful to all who attended. Even the two who wanted to just listen in. I’ve been thinking it over and have discussed it with some people. I think next Thursday there will be two sessions, one about 11am EDT and the other at 7:30pm EDT. An announcement will be coming out.

Connections were made last night. People learned about each other and projects that are underway. The feedback was positive with many looking forward to next week. Get working on that content.

I loved this comment from @steemitgraven29, “I am so glad I found Steemit - it led to the Writer's Block which led to meeting SirCork which led to coming here and now I get to meet all these wonderful people and hear bout these podcasts! I am pretty lucky!”

Couldn’t agree more.

Don’t forget, you can visit the Steemit Ramble discord at anytime. When you share the post of another Steemizen in the nominate-someones-post channel you will get access to another channel nominate-your-post. I regularly review those two channels for potential posts to share in the Steemit Ramble.

If you are too busy to share, there is a post promotion channel. I might look in there some day. Steemit is about sharing and building community.

I agree.. I start to see posts in a different light when I've learned some of the thoughts behind the post the author has done the work on.

Wow @shadowspub, I really must say, this is a great job you're doing here on. All the time and effort spent in listening to these people, checking texts too and even the work put into setting this post up. Its really great work trying to give this exposure to them, I really commend you.

every little bit helps and it was a little bit in comparison to the mission you've under taken... great work you're doing

As I said in chat - this is a fantastic resource for any steemian, but especially us minnows. I am passionate about the things I post about and love an opportunity to speak to others about them. I also enjoy hearing from others about their passions. Thank you @shadowspub for making this possible. See you next week (if not before then).

thank you @steemitgraven29, I'm thankful for yours and everyone's presence. Together we can help each other.

It was great to meet some new (to me) people. Thanks a ton for the mention as well.
