Farmpunk and Other Contests

in #contest5 years ago (edited)

Well, folks, there are some exciting goings on these days on Steemit. For starters, don't forget the currently running farmpunk contest sponsored by @gardengnomepubs.

Writers are asked to write a story where @quillfire is either protagonist or antagonist. Open ended on the theme. The prize is 5 Steem Basic Income (SBI) for the winner. How's that for incentive?

Alternatively, if you'd like to write about something else, as long as your story meets the farmpunk conditions, go right ahead. Post your story on your Steemit blog then head over to Garden Gnome Publications and drop your link (be sure to read the rules first). It's a contest. So go con or go home!

Have Your Roasted or Toasted Quillfire Yet?

In other news, our famed protagonist has extended the deadline for his roast or toast Quill contest. There's 25 SBI at stake on this one. What have you got to lose?

Vote for Steemitbloggers

@theycallmedan is running another contest for a huge pile of Steem Power (SP). In the first contest, the prize was 10,000 SP. This time he's giving away double that much. In SP delegation, for a year. That's a big pile of chickensh*t.

The winner of the last contest was @VotoVzla. The interesting thing about the current contest is there are 20 contestants. Many of them I have not heard of, but some of them I have. And I'd say they're just as deserving as my top pick. A big hat tip to @qurator and @freewritehouse. I certainly think they're worthy, but @steemitbloggers has my vote.

Led by @jaynie and @zord189, this little outfit--underdogs for sure--rallied the troops and went to battle, securing second place in the first contest against all odds. My bet is on them winning the nod in this one, and they're off to an early start. I've already voted for them. I encourage you to do so, too. Vote in this @dpoll right here. Vote for Steemit Bloggers (aka Power House Creatives).

Update on Narrative

So I've been let out of Narrative jail. You can read about that here.

Narrative jail

Since I've been let out of jail, I've been suggesting Niches, which is an interesting process. But today, I logged into the platform to check up on things and noticed that my reputation jumped seven whole points in one day. That's a bit unusual.

After a little investigating, I discoverd that they've changed their reputation scoring system. It used to be that behavior and content quality were both weighted at 40% in the scoring algorithm. Now, content quality is 60% and conduct is worth 10% of your total score, but you either have a 0 or 100% on the conduct rating. That means you're either a good boy/girl or a bad boy/girl. There is no in between.

Narrative reputation

I think this change is just fine, especially if you're an asshole who contributes high quality content.

Another change in the Narrative system is they are now certifying members. What that means is you pay a $10 fee to upload documentation that verifies your age and national status. They want to see that you are a real person.

This is actually a good thing. You don't have to reveal your real name on the platform, which means you can use an alias. However, you're allowed only one account because you can be verified for only one account, and that means ... no bots.

But not entirely. A person could, theoretically, verify their account then create a bot to manage the account and game the system. Nothing is perfect. But the practice of verifying accounts should minimize the damage that bots can do.

There are other benefits to certification, as well. You can view content intended for mature audiences (if you are 18 years old or more), be elected as a Niche moderator, and receive a nice boost to your reputation score (certification accounts for 30% of your total score). You can learn more about Narrative certification here.

One word of warning: If you do seek certification, be sure you do it right the first time. If you don't, there is an additional $5 fee to re-apply.

Be launch has finally been given a date: April 2.

If you haven't already, I've love for you to join me on Narrative.

Poor @quillfire's t-roasting from me is going to happen waaay after the deadline. If at all with all the focus on #PowerHouseCreatives winning the 20k. Thanks for the punt. And the update on Narrative. Still think I skip it.

A proper roast needs no deadline. I'm sure he'll take whatever punches you can muster ... whenever you can muster them. :-)

True. Let's see if it will be a roast or a toast. 'Specially as @quillfore insists on suggesting that our Princess Pearli is a suitable burger ingredient. The Cat's Mother takes umbrage....

@fionasfavourites,

The QuillFire Roast/Toast deadline has been extended by a week to ten days so that everyone could concentrate all their efforts on the War. Lots of time.

Quill

Great to see that we think alike on the @steemiblogger vote in the @dpoll competition by @theycallmedan. They certainly need all of the help in votes! Blessings!

With the right push, they can win it.

All kinds of good roasting, toasting, hustling, voting and certifying going on! I'm going to have to try my hardest to keep up with all of the fun. :)

Good luck! There's so much fun I can hardly keep up. :-)

With your continued frenetic pace, I suspect that you've created a few more clones, eh?

Most admirable, indeed.

Namaste, my friend.

JaiChai

Clones? Heh! I wish I had a couple. You'd see a lot more from me, my friend. Thanks for reading. :-)

@blockurator,

PROTAGONIST ... Quill is a Protagonist!!!

Block, I actually really like the idea of ID verification. I made the same suggestion in my Reform Articles for STEEM/Steemit. The system may not be perfect but you don't let the perfect become the enemy of the good.

Quill

you don't let the perfect become the enemy of the good.

Yeah, some people don't get that.
