Beer Review

Alter Ego is a 6.8% American IPA brewed by the Tree House Brewing Company in Monson, Massachusetts. I have tried many different beers from Tree House and they are always top notch. Tree House is a small batch craft brewer specializing in fine New England style IPAs. They do produce stouts, porters and a variety of other styles of beers, but the juice bombs like their Julius, Green, and Haze are what made Tree House become the legend that it is today. Unfortunately you can't find Tree House beers at your local liquor store, you need to travel to the brewery itself and wait in a long line in order to score any of this liquid gold. But it sure is worth it! Alter Ego is the alter ego of Tree House's Julius. A load of Mosaic and Amarillo were added to the Julius base during the dry hop making a deceivingly devilish version of the beer.

The Can

The Alter Ego is served in a full pint can. It features the typical Tree House Brewing Company logo on a blue label. When you see a can with a Tree House on it, you know there's going to be good beer inside. Alter Ego was originally brewed in the spirit of experimentation and to celebrate Tree House Brewing Company's 3rd anniversary.

The Beer

The Alter Ego pours a glowing. bright and hazy orange when poured into a glass. It formed a perfect, puffy head of foam, as you can see in the photo below. The aroma reeked of juicy citrus and tropical fruit. The taste is incredibly complex. It has the same base beer as the Julius but the added Mosaic and Amarillo to the dry hop creates a powerful citrus bite. I can see why they decided to name this beer 'Alter Ego'. It was absolutely delicious. I look forward to trying more beers from Tree House Brewing Company in the future.
