Curiosity: Forty Four - Tree House Brewing Company
Curiosity: Forty Four is a 7.9% alc/volume American/Imperial Double IPA brewed by the Tree House Brewing Company in Charlton, Massachusetts. Tree House is a top-notch small batch craft brewer specializing in fine New England style IPAs. They do produce stouts, porters and a variety of other styles of beers, but the juice bombs like their Haze, Green and Julius are what made Tree House become the legend that it is today. Tree House's Curiosity series is an experimental release in an attempt to further the brewers knowledge of the art and science of beer making. The can-art for the Curiosity series is always amazing. This Forty Four edition was delicious with an aroma of fresh pineapple. Unfortunately you can't find Tree House beers at your local liquor store, you need to travel to the brewery itself and wait in a long line in order to score any of this liquid gold. But it sure is worth it!

Don't let the beautiful can fool you, it's a damn good beer too! I realize there are a lot of craft beer companies using can-art to market their beers, but Tree House puts beer quality first. It's just a plus that the Can Art for Tree House's Curiosity series is always top notch too. The art on the Forty Four can features a skier shredding the moon lit alpine. It's the perfect beer for this weekend because tomorrow I will taking my first ski trip of the winter.
The Beer
Although the can features snowy mountains, the beer takes you to a tropical paradise! The Forty Four has a distinct smell of pineapple. It combines several American and Australian hops in the kettle, including Galaxy, Citra, Simcoe and Amarillo with heavy doses of Citra and Galaxy in the dry hop. It results in a super tropical double IPA dripping with fruitiness. The carbonation technique creates a soft body which provides maximum drinkability. This goes down deliciously easy for a 7.9% alc/vol beer. It was a real pleasure to enjoy the Curiosity: Forty Four. I look forward to my next Tree House adventure!

That beer even looks like pineapple -- and good for you, lol. That's quite a variety of hops, too. So does all the flavor come from the hops or is there pineapple in it, too? It seems quite a contrast to have a topical beer with all that snow. Maybe that's what New England folks need to get through the long, snowy winter! ; ) Or more skiing! That’s a great question, I’m not sure what kind of added flavors they use, but Tree House is the king around here. Definitely a great way to enhance the chairlift trips ;)
