Single Shot (Sumatra Mandheling) is a 6.4% Milk Stout brewed by the Tree House Brewing Company in Monson, Massachusetts. I have tried a few different beers from Tree House and they are always top notch. Tree House is a small batch craft brewer specializing in fine New England style IPAs. They do produce stouts, porters and a variety of other styles of beers, but the juice bombs like their Julius, Green, and Haze are what made Tree House become the legend that it is today. Unfortunately you can't find Tree House beers at your local liquor store, you need to travel to the brewery itself and wait in a long line in order to score any of this liquid gold. But it sure is worth it! The Single Shot (Sumatra Mandheling) is a beautifully balanced coffee stout made with Sumatra Mandheling beans

The Can

The Single Shot (Sumatra Mandheling) is served in a full pint can. Instead of the classic Tree House Brewing logo, the can features a cup of coffee with a trail of steam brewing up from the top. It has a tan color label which lets you know that it will be a delicious coffee flavored treat.

The Beer

I tried the Single Shot (Sumatra Mandheling) at my friend @kirm-it's house with Nick Capalbo. As I poured it into the glass I noticed the nice foamy head that formed atop the beer. It had a robust smell of roast coffee beans, just like a freshly brewed pot in the morning. It tasted delicious with flavors of coffee, chocolate and caramel all wrapped up in a silky and airy milk stout. This was the first time I tried a Stout from Tree House and it was incredible, just like all of their beers. I look forward to trying more from Tree House Brewing Company in the future!
