GERMAN BEER OF THE DAY ON TOUR #18 - Meckatzer Weiss-Gold Sonntagsbier at Herzogstand Mountain

in Germany 2 weeks ago we had unusually warm temperatures for the autumn, which we used for a trip to the mountain Herzogstand in Bavaria.
Since I was on the way with my children and my parents, we decided to take the comfortable way of ascent by cable car.
The cable car is not the most modern, but overcomes the 800-metre difference in altitude in less than 5 minutes. It does not hang too far in the air, ideal for people with fear of heights.
A view down to Lake Walchensee, where the base station of the cable car is located.
A very easy hiking trail starts at the top station.
After 5 to 10 minutes you reach the mountain hut Herzogstandhaus.
We pass a statue of King Ludwig II. The mountain Herzogstand was his favorite mountain.
The beautiful weather has attracted many thirsty hikers to the mountain. When we arrive at the restaurant, the next barrels of beer are delivered with the pickup.
The mountain hut was hopelessly overcrowded, so we planned a picnic on the summit. Of course I brought a summit beer, a Meckatzer Weiss-Gold Sonntagsbier.
From the summit you have a wonderful view of Lake Walchensee and the Bavarian Alpine peaks.
The lake Kochelsee is located at the foot of the mountain.
After the picnic we went back down from the summit.
Panoramic view in east direction to Jochberg and Benediktenwand.
Although it was a working day, the second large car park was already partly filled in the early afternoon.
We also went down to the parking lot by cable car, because the path is very steep and the knees are heavily loaded.

geiler Ausblick....Nur mit der Gondel könnte ich nicht fahren :)
Wieso nicht? Ich mag auch keine hochhängenden Gondeln, aber die Fahrt dauert nur 5 Minuten und wenn man auf der Hangseite in der Gondel steht, schaut man nur auf Bäume und Gras, die zum Greifen nah sind.
Na mit Höhenangst ist das immer bisschen schwierig :)

Beer is terrible in Germany, so we're always in a bad mood :-)
Yeah I heard that before. But don't tell the germans, they are very proud of their 600 year old brewery receipt... :P
