🔎 "Zoom in" - a closer look at the "Prima Ballerina"steemCreated with Sketch.

in #art6 years ago (edited)

Since there seemed to be a genuine interest in some high resolution details of my work with the "Revelation" a few days ago, I'd like to share another zoom in on one of my paintings today.

"Prima Ballerina" was my second big oil painting ever, after the first one, the "Benign UFO". Before that, I had only done a few small practice pieces and working on a large scale (195x130cm) in a new technique was quite a challenge.

The painting was for a group show and the theme was "black and white". Which I really liked, as it worked well with my drawing like approach. As you will see in the close-ups, I did not mix the grays on the palette, but instead used only pure black and white. The gray tones were achieved by the "density" of the paint applied.

Patience please, large files ahead!

The original is a diptych, meaning, it is painted on two canvases joined together to one piece.

The attention to detail, not to mention those elegant lines and curves, are a real feast to the eyes. Great work, Mr. Schmid!

Thanks a lot for your kind compliment. Just realized, that I forgot to show the whole painting... done now.

From a glance looks close to real! I always enjoy black and white or monochromatic artwork

Thank you. I really enjoyed painting this one :-)

I'm still in love with this piece as I was the first time I saw it. It has so many details and the feet look incredibly gorgeous.

Cordial thanks for your kind comment. I see you are well on your way with your own work!

Absolutely stunning! Hope I will be as good at painting some day

Its all a matter of practice and devotion, you can do it :-)

I love the detailled art of people who love details ;) And I resteem it.

You definitely have an eye for detail... and a hand for it too!

Your works are crazyly gorgeous 0_0
Uovoted and ....I must follow you

Quite a compliment, thank you very much!

Amazing. I am not sure how you make the zoom work, but I did find that if you just right click my images and hit open in new window, it does open them larger. I suppose I could just upload even larger images of the pieces so tell people "Right click and open in new window"

This light is really breath taking in this piece and again the narrative makes me smile and wonder. Those are such important responses to me when I view art. I love a story line and really some artists, such as yourself, speak novels in your pieces.

The zoom thingy is quite easy, once you know how to do it. The right click works just as good, I just added this as a "service"... once you add your picture file to the editor, it looks something like this:

! [file] (link to file)

Spaces are so this is properly shown.

Now you just make the above the file and link it to the location again:

[! [file] (link to file) ] (link to file)

do it without the spaces. Hope this makes sense.

Glad this piece "speaks" to you like that :-)

The details are breathtaking, I love paying attention to them too

You never fail to fascinate me with your creativity and attention to detail my friend!

Cordial thanks, glad you like it :-)

When I saw the preview, I wasn't entirely sure this wasn't a photo. The level of detail, is great, but many have mentioned that.

I really like the path the lines of her legs take us through and how the platform extends them even more. Having so much of the visual weight in the top right also lifts her up and adds a weightless quality.

I also like the pose, with one foot facing directly forward and the other in profile, the contrasting views work well with the contrasting background.

Good eye! Thank you for taking the time to take a closer look and this beautiful comment.
