Journal: Fight The Good Fight

in #art6 years ago

Nine days ago, I shared a page on my journal which showed my first Mandala ever created for 2018. It made me really happy that this post was curied, had earned some SBDs and definitely given me good amount of Steem Power too!

I believe that each single Steemian would like to receive good amount of earning but there are things that we just can't control especially in terms of upvotes.

This is how the page looks afterwards.

Since that's more than a week ago, I'd like to share another journal page which I had created few days ago. I usually write on my journal about anything random and if I am a lot of spare time, I would do hand lettering.

Out of nowhere, I thought of making a lettering for the quote Fight the Good Fight. I already had forgotten how I come up with the quote, perhaps I heard it somewhere.

Sideway angle shot.

As usual, I start with writing the quote using a pencil as a draft. I love to actually make the lettering in thick strokes, its just me!

I was originally thinking of leaving it as is but my husband encouraged me to continue and fill it with colors. So, as a submissive wife, I went on and looked for the right color or shall I say a favorite color to fill it up.

My likes in colors are those which are girly and dark toned. Here I used my M&G Signe Dual pens.

Here's how the lettering shows with the colors.

I like to fill up the letters using a thick pen because it is making the task faster. The pen has a dual tip, one which looked like a brush and the other end which is like a normal felt pen.

The "THE GOOD" words were really drafted badly.

I almost give up with the lettering with the "THE GOOD" words. I felt like filling it up will make the page worse!

Final.

But I decided to just cover it up with Gold! I remember the story where in China or perhaps Japan (I'm confused now), whenever something breaks, they fix the broken vases with gold.

I researched about this story and I found that this was referred as Kintsugi. Here's the story behind it:

Kintsugi (or Kintsukuroi, which means “golden repair”) is the centuries-old Japanese art of fixing broken pottery with a special lacquer dusted with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. Beautiful seams of gold glint in the cracks of ceramic ware, giving a unique appearance to the piece. mymodernmet.com

That's it for today. Have a great day!

Nice depiction. "Fight the Good Fight" is an age old saying, commonly used in both the UK and the USA in the 19th century, usually in a biblical context. I think it is also an old traditional, classic favorite hymn and Christian song... seems I remember singing it in church growing up when I was a kid.

great memory! i can't think of any christian song with this line

I looked it up and yep, it is the song I remember. I grew up a Catholic and was an alter boy, so these things stick with you. I no longer practice any religion these days though.

i see.. religion is quite a complicated subject :)
