Tu vuoi fare l'idiomatico: "Colpire il cespuglio"
Viviamo nell'era delle informazioni, tutto è più veloce e non ci piace perderci in voli pindarici e giri di parole.
Anche l'espressione:
"Menare il can per l’aia"
è un po' desueta e chi la usa viene subito apostrofato come antico...
Anche in inglese la frase:
"Beat around the bush"
richiama i fasti del secoli medievali.
Infatti viene citata in un poema per descrivere la caccia all'uccello, in cui venivano utilizzati i battitori che percuotendo i cespugli ne agevolavano la cattura nelle reti. Ma nel fare ciò dovevano fare attenzione a non danneggiare i nidi e le uova quindi i cespugli venivano colpiti esternamente, aggirando la parte centrale.
