This is a complementary series for the Steemit-exclusive, original novel A Day in the Clouds. Be sure to check out the latest chapters (Part 1 and Part 2) before you read this post to avoid spoilers.

SILVER LINING

Hey Cloudheads! I hope this greeting finds you well. So sorry for breaking a chapter up into two parts again. I felt so bad as I literally sliced my chapter in two. It's as if my soul was cut in half. It was a last minute decision, and the cut was uneven because it was meant to be read at once. There was no other logical point to cut it, so I made do with what I have. Ultimately, the decision to divide it was influenced by the average Steemit readers' admittedly short attention span.

All in all, the decision turned out to be a great one! The highest grossing chapter to date. The earnings completely surprised me. 6.942 SD, 38.024 STEEM, and 88.724 STEEM POWER. I know it's not a lot, but it's the highest that I've gotten for this series so far. And, of course, because I greeted it, next chapter is going to be the lowest earner haha! I just hope that people would tune in though, because next chapter is going to be one of the most pivotal of the whole story.

In any case, this chapter dealt with a very scary event that happened not too long ago. While the children where nowhere near the area, the septic tank in the backyard did indeed collapsed and formed a small sinkhole. Just to remind you, the setting is in the province, and the septic tank was really old. It collapsed because it was rusted out, and the weight of the soil and cement above it became too much for it to bear. Thankfully, no one was hurt by that.

I wasn't there when it happened, so I just relied on my cousin's tale. It was a harrowing experience, for sure. A loud thud from out of nowhere would give anyone a hell of a scare! I'm trying to find pictures, but I can't seem to find them. I guess you just have to take my word for it regarding this one. All's well and good now though. The hole had been fixed almost immediately, and the area has been secured in case the kids would be playing in the vicinity :D

The Purpose

I don't have an exact tally of how much this series has earned, but you can check @zeppelin to see all my transfers to it. Currently, it's performing way below expectations, but I'm holding out for hope. I still have faith in the goodness of people, and I hope that one day it would be backed by reality. As of writing, I still don't have a handle of how to succeed in Steemit haha! It's funny because people who've been here in far lesser time have earned and achieved more. While I'm happy for them, I'm a bit saddened that the blessings haven't trickled my way. I've just gotten my final (for realz) Curie vote for Part 2 and have been promoted to 63 rep after being stuck at 62 rep for what feels like ages, and I have yet to achieve a stable following. I won't stray though, and just keep my focus. Quality over quantity :D

The more I read your silver linings the more ii get intrigued to read your book when I can. Glad the septic tank was cleaned up, that's always a nasty outcome. Congrats on your newest rep score and just keep pushing forward, i've gone many days without receiving payment, but consistency and quality pay off for future opportunities and not only on steemit, so stay positive and open minded bro, wishing you only the best of success certainly. Thanks, brother. I appreciate the reminder! That's always been my problem, keeping myself positive. While I find it easy to motivate others, not receiving the same treatment really takes its toll on me. So, I appreciate it whenever I get encouragement. Means the world!

Also, no need to note that you upvoted, because I trust that you did. I hope you know that I upvote all of your posts every time as well. Peace, my brother!

Congratulations on the new rep! I had no idea that was the cut off for curie, I guess I'm glad I didn't know or I would've been worrying my head off about it. you should stop in posts by the-alien, hanshotfirst, and jrcornel. Just start off by talking about their posts, then after a couple of times mention to them that you've recently stopped qualifying for curie and post links to part one of a day in the clouds and the first silverlining. I bet one of them will pick you up! They're very nice guys.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely try it out :) I've been having the worst luck on people I pick up to support lately. It's not all bad, I've met a couple of users who mutually support. But, the number of returns is pretty dismal. I shouldn't have known about the curie cut-off, it just gave me more anxiety. Since I don't have any curation trails backing me up, it's scary in a way that it feels like I'm starting from square one. It's all good. I'm just going to continue posting original work. If they want to give their work to posts that can be found elsewhere on the internet, then it's their prerogative :)

So the story is kind of based on stuff that has happened or is happening to you/your family?

I kind of wish you wouldn't cut the chapters but if you have to you have to and I have an awesome attention span for things I'm interested in (and then it turns ino a gnat when I'm not XD), perhaps I'm abnormal :)

Yay for Curie vote!

It's based off of a day in the life of my nephew. You can find the full explanation here. Yeah, I really wish I won't need to cut the chapters, but some are admittedly really long, like the next one for example. I feel like my soul is being cut in half whenever I cut a chapter. It's awesome that you have an awesome attention span! I really wish more readers have the same thing :)

Oh, did you happen to read the regulations for Curie? Nice, huh? :) It's great that you have a long qualification period ahead. I think Curie was established when I was 57 rep, and everything was still up in the air back then. Currently, I'm not eligible for it anymore, but I still support it because of the boost it has given me in the past. The group is composed of awesome individuals like @kevinwong, so it's not that hard to root for their initiative.

Thanks for taking the time to read and leave your thoughts! Unfortunately, the next chapter would be cut into two parts as well :( But, both parts are super long, so I think you'll have your fill (almost 5k if uncut). Looking forward to our continued mutual support :D

I have not checked out the Curie regulations yet, the steemit chat thing required a login (unsurprisingly) and I backed out (doing anything that looks like it will require too much effort results in either me fleeing or spending a very long time doing analysis on whether I should expend said effort, most likely the former because I may drown if I try to do too much more than I'm already doing XD). I am now following them though.

I'll put up with whatever you need to do with the chapters as long as you keep posting them XD I'm quite enjoying the story :)

Aww that's so nice of you to say :D That's so great to hear, and I will truly treasure that statement. If only my upvotes were worth more I would've given you hundreds of dollars just for that praise :D

Right, it's quite understandable, here's a TLDR version so that you won't need to create a steemit.chat account: To qualify for a Curie vote post must be more than 150 mins old but less than 20 hours (2.5hrs < post age < 20hrs), has less than $0.50 earnings, written in English and must be from an author with 62 rep and under. Author must not have earned more than $10 from a single post in the last 2 days, so it's best to schedule your posts 2 days apart to give them the best possible chance. Only original content (articles, art, poetry, videos, recipes, etc) that appear first on Steemit. Make sure sources are linked properly and check for plagiarism before posting. No Steemit-related, photography, religious, introduceyourself or political posts. Posts are submitted for consideration via http://curiesteem.com/ You can submit your own, or submit other posts that meet the standard. If your submitted post (that's not your own) gets the Curie nod, you'll receive 8 STEEM as a bounty.

Thanks for that :)

Don't mention it! Happy to help :)
