Wednesday Walk Sights like this make me appreciate all that I have

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

Wednesday walk challenge

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Try and get a few shots not just one

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Try to limit yourself to a set distance or time from the starting location, say 5 Blocks, 5 Minutes walk or whatever and see what you can find in that short distance

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join it this week please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all.

Following me and resteeming the post so more see it would be appreciated but isnt a rule just a suggestion.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

New from this week

I will try and visit, resteem and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk, plus I will be sending @steembasicincomeshares to a selection of those who participate.

I went for a walk this week along 7th and 8th Avenues from 42nd Street to about 25th I think and took a bunch of shots, looking through them tonight I wondered what to share for this post and then I remembered a conversation I overheard on the train home where a group were complaining how tough they had it as they were only able to have one overseas vacation this year and how unfair that was, and that inspired me to do this post.

I am sure this couple I saw sleeping on the sidewalk would be happy with a roof over their head and would not be complaining how tough things are because they cant do multiple over seas all Inclusive vactions.

This guy seemed in a deep sleep I wonder when he awakes what he wishes for, perhaps a good meal and dreams of a comfortable bed and a real pillow perhaps

I came across this person sleeping on the stairs outside the Post Office on 8th Ave, I can be a deep sleeper but I also often roll around a lot on the sleep, I don't think I could sleep on steps like this I would roll over and down the stairs and do myself an injury

Still, on the Post Office Steps, I saw this guy, it seemed to me he was taking a break on the stairs, it looks like he had a tripod on the side of his backpack so maybe he had been walking getting photos and was just having a time out and catching up on his phone, so perhaps doesn't fit with the theme of this post but I like the shot so will leave it in.

And another guy resting and snoozing on the steps, not I used to say I could sleep anywhere, but with age I suspect I couldnt get comfortable and snooze oin these steps, or maybe with age I have got softer.

And here ends my Photos for my Wednesday Walk, if your having a rough day and feeling life is being hard on you think of the people like in the first few shotsd who for whatever reason have to sleep on the street, I know for me when I see them like this it really does make me think how lucky I have been.

Steem Basic Income give away

I mentioned in the guidelines that from this week I will be sponsoring a few who join the #wednesdaywalk challenge with shares on Steem Basic Income

What is Steem Basic Income you may ask well here is how they explain it

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content. so I have decided to randomly send some Steem to add shares for some of my followers so yesterday evening I sponsored the following people
@tcpolymath, @joalvarez, @rimicane, @vidanomada, @plantstoplanks, @prydefoltz, @dabeckster, @silversaver888, @ameliabartlett, @trudeehunter, @keithboone

All people who joined in last weeks Wednesday walk, I would love to be able to give everyone who joins a Steem Basic Income share, but I don't make enough steem each week to do so, but I will try and share them around fairly between those that join the challenge

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

Complaining is not totally bad, it is part of the protest when we disagree with something that causes us disgust or discomfort. It is a way of opposition or resistance and it is healthy, because otherwise we would step on the terrain of men without will or hope. Of those who walk through life as dead in life who accept their fate placidly.

But when the complaint takes gigantic proportions that obscure everything else, it is fatal. We have to complain so as not to let ourselves be embraced by conformism, but we have to do it with objectivity, giving space to appreciate what we have. Are we really that bad? Above all, when we compare our life with that of others who obviously seem to be doing worse.

It's true, I live in terrible circumstances in a country that is kidnapped by a tyrannical and drug trafficking government that seeks to assassinate us slowly. Disproportionate inflation has us drowned in despair. Life became a list of priorities. First survive, then live.

Every day I go to bed, thinking, what do I do? and when I wake up I wonder what I do? I do not know what to do in reality. The easiest way out is to cry, because that is the only thing I can do.

And when I read of sad stories or devastating images like this, I turn around and recognize that I have a house that covers me from the storm and the cold days, also a bed that keeps me warm and a family that loves me. It's true, I'm missing other things, but they're irrelevant. I will not stop complaining, but in doing so, I must not forget the beautiful things that I have.

I ask the Universe to illuminate the path of these people and of all those who need shelter and comfort.

@thaishps Such a thoughtful comment, I have been lucky to travel a lot including to many countries after war and famine and also places where people experience what you are going through so my thoughts are with you

Yes complaining in itself is not bad, but making good out of a complaint or finding a way to improve things is important as well

Thanks for your visit

It is terrible having to endure dreadful living conditions in the streets...
Very good post!

@helena-m I so feel for them whenever i see them

Your Wednesday walk is loaded with mixed feelings and thoughts, life is mysterious when you look at individual priorities, isn’t call for sobering to know that to some people now as we speak, their highest miracle could be to have a square meal 🥘, some might be to have a relief from a particular illness, to some is to see killings, war and weeping stopped in their country.

Like you said, appreciation should be part of us always because life does not leave any of us without a scar.

@maxdevalue Thanks such a thoughtful comment and related closely to my thoughts, Since I knew I was sharing this post this morning when I picked up my breakfast I grabbed half a dozen more and walked around and gave them to some people on the street I saw, I hope they appreciated it but it made me feel my day started well

Wow, there is no such joy giver like what you did, sharing with people around you, it makes one to be fulfilled, it prolongs our days. I’m sure they appreciate. Thank you.

@maxdevalue They sure did seem to appreciate it, well to be honest most of them did, one had a bit of a rant that he wanted money not food, but thats not a bad ratio I think

Haha 🤣 NOT at all, it also fall into the scale of preference that your Wednesday walk pictures alluded to.

@maxdevalue Yes I do see what you mean and agree

@tattodjay You are 100% correct, we do complain far to easily when things are not going our way and feel hard done by. The people complaining about not having a holiday abroad this year, should do some voluntary work in some super poor areas of the world, just to realise how good they actually have it. Anyway off to do a Wednesday Walk. Hopefully I will have something interesting to post later. Have a good day.

@nickyprescott Thanks for your thoughts and I totally agree, I have travelled extensively and to some countries in pretty bad shape maybe that makes me appreciate even more how easy many of us have it here

I look forward to seeign what ever you can share on your walk :)

Wow, this is a stellar collection of photos. The Wednesday Walk is fantastic, your dedication to this community and @steemusa are admirable. 👏🏼👏🏼

@ameliabartlett Thanks I see so much potential in Steem and Steemit if we just all work together and support each other to grow so thats what I do nothing special :)

Hi, my dear Jay. Great post, and seems like you did it for me. I also pray gratitude, but in times more adverse, it's great to have wake up posts like yours. Well done, my friend!

@nolasco Thanks for your consistent support to this challenge Loved your post this week

Thanks, my dear Jay <3 <3!

“I will not complain anymore about anything !” As your post shows, some people have nothing and would be happy with a roof over their head. Great photos @tattoodjay.

@redheadpei Thanks :) sight slike this give us some grounding I do believe

They sure do put things in perspective.
