Wednesday walk challenge - A walk at lunch time!
Wednesday walk challenge, by my friend @tattoodjay :))
Today I just had a walk around the neighborhood of my current workplace at lunch time. It's located in the center of Díli and the first photo was taken from the building.
I saw some interesting scenes, like this one of a boy selling sneakers in the streets. And someone driving the most usual vehicles in Díli, motorbykes. They are thousands and thousands!
This is the Central Bank of East Timor... a local bus... (they are all like this one, very colourful!) and shops around.
And then some trees. And I remembered that Jay also suggests us to focus in some details, and that's when I thought about showing you these amazing trees of Díli. They are locally called "gondoeiros" and people believe they are home of a local well know ghost, a whitch that curses women to steal away their husbands. It's also a local tradition that women, when they are pregnant (and they are many and a lot of times!) bring a scissors on their bra or somewhere near their bodies, to protect themselves from this witch. I don't know much more about it, or the reason, but I know they do that. They say this ghost has no face, wears a long white piece of fabrics with a big hole on her belly, and has a long black hair grown to her feet.
And then I also thought how nature is strong and always wins and keeps growing even when men try to interfere with it. This huge Gondoeiro was cut not long ago. I remember it before it was cut, and the bottom of it looked like this (I still have the pic I took then):
The leaves were, where they belong, at the top of it. But then it was cut and i thought it would die.
But no... it didn't die, instead the leaves started to grow from the top to the bottom!
Leaves almost to the roots. Just check out the difference!
I hope you enjoyed this walk with me.
See you next Wednesday!
Thanks, my dear Jay!
Love to all!
