#Veganwednesday - Discover the new product Swedish vegans are going crazy about

in #vegan6 years ago

Hey guys,

My hubby first discovered this product through a Swedish vegan food guru who fights a lot to make vegan, damn good food mainstream. His name is Gustav Johansson and he owns one of the biggest Vegan food blogs in Sweden (www.javligtgott.se).

A new product was released in the dark by Anamma (a Swedish vegan food brand). And vegans who've tried it is going insane, bonanza and almost running around on the streets screaming halleluljah and crying tears of joy.
So my hubby and I felt the need to check out the buzz for ourselves.

On our latest grocery shopping we found this product of heaven and decided to give it a go. Hubby found a recipe on Anammas website that he wanted to try and onwards we went. And the end result? GOOD GOD MY TASTE BUDS ARE CRYING IN JOY

So what is this magic wonder that has turned the world upside down?
Anamma has had a frozen pre-fried vegan ground beef and this new product is another version of it but just not pre-fried.
The texture is really moist and it's perfect for making anything you can ever dream of.
The taste is very natural and it takes on spices so well you will be surprised.
It also stays moist after you cooked it which gives it an amazing texture.

So without further delay here is our vegan bifteki dinner

FotoJet.jpg
Yes I did swear a lot while eating this since it tasted just like the real deal and had a texture just as the real deal and was moister than the real deal. In other words, bloody delicious.

Ingredients for the bifteki

  • 500 grams of anamma frozen ground beef
  • 1 onion
  • 1/5 pot of parsley or 1 dl
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 3 tablespoons of dried oregano
  • 3 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil (or Virgin coconut oil without flavor if you want to be more healthy)
  • Lemon - Lots of lemon

Method

1 - Leave the ground beef out at room temperature to defrost (or run in the oven on 100 degrees celcius for a few minutes till soft)
2 - Chop up the onion and put all the spices, tomato paste and garlic in a bowl. Mix it up.
3 - Add the defrosted ground beef. It should be at room temp and not have any frozen bits in it.
4 - Mix everything with your hands or a fork and make little hamburgers of it.
5 - Fry in a lot of oil for around 10 minutes total (depends on the size). Flip them a few times, not too often though.

You want your patties so brown up a little bit without being burned

Ingredients for the sauce

  • 2 dl of soygurt
  • 1/2 of a garlic clove (or a whole if you love garlic)
  • lemon juice from 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper

Method

1 - While the ground beef is on defrost add all the ingredients for the sauce in a bowl and blend together. Make sure that you take a little bit of the lemon juice at a time. So you get the acidity you prefer if there is juice left keep it! You will need it later.

Serve with potato wedges, salad and drown those patties in a lot of lemon juice.

Yummy, Don't think we have that brand here, I saw an oat meat thing the other day and it looked great. So many great products coming on stream every day. These look delish BTW!

Let's hope they expand in the future :)
I can't wait to see where we will be in a few years. As you said so much new things coming and I'm so excited :)
Thank you so much :)

Looks delicious Nicole.. Not sure about the "bloody" part though.. lol

Hahaha well just a figure of speach ;) Not really bloody but damn good :D

Interesting, can you tell me what the packet ingredients are, im on the website for anamma all in Swedish but knowing German helps me understand it lol! Can't find ground beef but looking at another product. I'm guessing it's soya based? They r using e-numbers to stabilise the food. Tbh no wonder ppl are going mental over these products they probably quite addictive. Slightly concerned... It does look tasty tho. I hope u don't go to crazy over these products and keep them to a special occasion. Most things in packets are concerned with profits not health.

https://www.anamma.eu/products/formbar-fars/ this product has this e-number (stabilizer) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methyl_cellulose its not naturally occurring, they say its not digestible and so used as a laxative but then the same substances is used for glues and building materials. i personally don't trust laboratory made substances, thats just me, something to be aware of

I really appriciate your concern and bringing this up. We do apply a whole food plant based diet most of the time and on special occations eat proccessed food. Such as this time :).
I agree with you about not trusting laboratory substances but I do also think it's really important to highlight what you can eat instead of meat and bring an alterntive for those who want to eat food similar to what they have been eating before.
This makes it easier for people to transit to veganism and let go of old habbits by ease in to something similar.
I could have done more research about the ingredients but honestly I did not care that much since we rarely eat this kind of food and we where really excited about finding something so similar to "the real deal".
I do hope how ever that they find a better stabilizer that is more natural in the future :)

i agree with u thats why i upvoted ur post, hope u enjoy it :)

Thank you darling :) <3
