BIG 4 SANDSTONE POINT HOLIDAY RESORT.

We were planning on spending a quiet New Years Eve at home. But our son and daughter in law had other ideas for John and myself. They had decided to shut shop early (they own a caravan business) to see if they could book in at a Caravan Park for the night. It's always a busy time of the year for them and they deserved to chill out, knowing that New Years Day was a holiday.

Naturally, it was not easy finding any holiday parks with a vacancy at such short notice, but thankfully one became available after a cancellation, not far from home.

The Big 4 Holiday Park at Sandstone Point in Queensland had opened a month earlier and this one offered first class facilities for family entertainment and relaxation.

We were warmly greeted by our grandson Dusty.

The Big 4 Holiday Park brand is a major business which operates throughout Australia and their Sandstone Point Holiday Park has already smashed previous records for reservations for both opening week and opening month.

And after spending a few hours there on the last day of 2018 I could well understand why. This is the entrance to the park.

The first activity of the afternoon was to watch Dusty and his sister Charli, play a game of outdoor chess.

Thankfully by the time John and I arrived at the park the hot sun was receding and we enjoyed our free entertainment in the shade. Charli won, but only just.

We then gravitated to the pool and I was amazed at how big it was. 500 square meters of sparkling blue water encircled by palm trees looked wonderfully inviting. Plenty of comfortable lounges were placed around the perimeter of the pool to use in between swimming.

As night closed in, I noticed circled of golden lights winding their way up the branches of the palm trees. They looked so pretty.

The bar area looked very empty but I assume that was because most people had catered very well for their own New Year's Eve celebrations.

One of this park’s major draw cards for families is their fabulous water-play park which was imported from Turkey. It consists of six water slides, water guns, a rope course and a 800 litre tipping bucket at its highest point.

The light was fading as we walked around the park checking out all the amazing facilities. There was no shortage of spacious, undercover BBQ areas available.

A few of the villas are visible at the end of this outdoor dining area. The holiday park has a variety of villas on offer. 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units, luxury and studio villas plus family or luxury safari tents on either powered or non powered sites.

Night had fallen. We'd enjoyed a tasty BBQ dinner with the family and the count down to the 9pm fireworks at the hotel grounds next door had begun. The first lot of fireworks were designed for younger children who would not make it to the mid-night ones.

Charli loves making bracelets, anklets, ear-rings necklaces and adornments wherever they can be worn, out of florescent glow sticks. Her Nanna, (me) received an equal amount of glowing accessories but unfortunately I couldn't carry any balloons as I was operating my trusty camera most of the night.

The Sandstone Hotel is situated on the picturesque shores of the Pumicestone Passage which is close to the very popular Bribie Island. Mid-way between Brisbane city and the sunshine coast, sits the Sandstone Point Hotel which is surrounded by seven hectares of waterfront land. Their outdoor entertainment area centered around a stage parallel to the water, caters for 20,000 people at any one time.

Apart from their unobstructed water front features, the Sandstone Point Hotel boasts a stylish bistro, classy restaurants and modern function facilities. And the Big 4 Holiday Park is located on the adjacent property.

We all walked the short distance from the holiday park to the hotel entertainment area and as we got closer, so too did the sound of hundreds of excited people gathered in expectation of a fun night ahead.

We were met by dazzling lights, sparkling reflections on the water from beneath the the Bribie Island Bridge, the chatter of celebratory crowds as they jostled to secure ideal vantage points with which to enjoy the much anticipated fireworks display.

Live music punched the air with vibrant accents and the darkness disappeared under a spectacular light show. And it was nearly time to say "Good-Bye 2018" and welcome 2019 with open arms.

That looks like a nice, warm place to be. Heck of a chess set, too.

Warm, it definitely was @fotosdenada but that pool was the perfect way to cool down. Thanks for your kind visit.

Wonderful. Thanks very much @archistem.

Howdy there trudeehunter! wow what a place! I know everyone is going to have some great memories of that wonderful park. I'm not sure what a caravan park is, like a camp ground for motorhomes? Well whatever it is the place is so well designed, someone spent a bloody fortune on that one!

And you're so good at presenting it, you should be a promoter! lol. I bet you guys all do that again.

Howdy @janton Australia is a land full of caravans as it is an ideal climate for people to travel all year around. The south Australians travel north during their colder months and the north Aussies go south to enjoy the cooler weather.

Caravans are towed behind vehicles and of course a motorhome is driven, That is the basic difference. Our son manufactures off road vans so rougher and more isolated areas can be visited as well. I'll have to see if I can find a link to a post I did when John and I stayed in one our sons caravans a while ago.

Howdy tonight trudeehunter! How interesting to know, thanks for telling me this information. Well, those off-road vans sound super interesting, they are bigger 4 wheel drives? I want one of those in case the world blows up and we have to hit the road. lol.

Haha......you won't need any 4 wheel drives or caravans @janton when the world blows up. I hear 'Philip's Transport,' is very convenient. I've already made my booking. (lol) An Off Roader Caravan is built higher off the ground with larger wheels but is still towed by a vehicle.......one that can take the extra weight.

I found the link I was looking for. You will see a unique yellow caravan which, strangely enough proved to very popular although people either loved or hated the colour. It was great for advertising though so I guess it served its purpose.

Howdy tonight trudeehunter! Hey that is one great looking unit! The quality looks superb, it really does. Very impressive. What is Philip's Transport?
lol. Here's what I had in mind when you said off road:
3326vl8cw3.jpg

Now that is a an ideal way to get around Australia @janton and there are many such vehicles like this available in this country. I'll have to get a photo of one of my son's Off Roader vans if he has any in stock and show you what they look like.

I've always understood 'Philips' Transport to mean he was 'spirited' from one place to another by the power of God. I found reference to it here that you may be interested in reading.

https://georgesjournal.net/2012/06/29/was-philip-transported-miraculously-after-the-ethiopian-was-baptised/

howdy again trudeehunter! oh yes, Philip's Transport, I've never heard of it referred to like that but of course when he was translated, we just say translated, it's happened in modern times as well and of course is one of the supernatural events which will become more commonplace in the End Times.

I've never seen that type of big 4 wheel drive rv or motorhome but they look awesome. I'm sure they cost awesomely too!

I think we are going to witness many amazing things during the End Times @janton ........unless we get to experience a little of Philip's Transport to our mansions in the sky before that (lol)

Most of the caravans that my son sells have their own toilet, shower and laundry facilities but he keeps his prices attractive to the average buyer.
