Travel Diary #2: A tour to Wat Pho, Temple of Reclining Buddha

in #travel7 years ago

It’s another day in Bangkok; we started off our with breakfast from 7 eleven. Not like in Malaysia, there is actually food from 7-Eleven in Bangkok.

We bought some sushi roll, burger, dumplings, and toasties. All these need to heat up with microwave except for the sushi rolls.

For a frozen food from a convenience store, it tastes quite good.

After our breakfast, we took GrabCar to Wat Pho, a temple of the reclining Buddha. It is located directly south of the grand palace. The entrance was 100 baht per person.

Wat Pho serves as home to the massive 46-meter long reclining Buddha; it is simply breathtaking for experience in person. The amazing feeling of taking in the sight of the enormous golden figure cannot be described with words, and even hard to capture in photos due to its massive size, you just have to see it for yourself.

Every inch of Wat Pho is decorated with some colorful shape, either entirely abstract or drawn from nature. The architects took special care to repeat shapes throughout the site while varying colors along the way to add to a sense of whimsy.

We didn't go to the grand palace because there were too crowded with tourists and the entrance was 500 baht per person.

After leaving wat pho, we accidentally found a mango dessert shop, so we decided to give it a try.

We ordered mango yogurt smoothie, mango snowflake, and mango and sticky rice.

If you are a mango, dessert lover, definitely give this shop a try.

Then, we took GrabCar to MBK center, a large shopping mall in Bangkok, and we ended our evening with a shopping spree. Actually no, we ended our day 3 with more shopping.

One of the advantages of staying in First House hotel, there are a lot of shopping center nearby and night market. On day 3, we went to Platinum Fashion Mall; it is a six-story complex full of fashion clothes and accessories retail and wholesale. If you wish to buy snacks as Souvenirs, you can go to Big C to get a different kind of snacks.

On day 3, we are on a shopping spree for the whole day; I had never felt so tired in my life before.

So, if you plan to visit Bangkok, and shopping is your number 1 priority, you have to check out First House Hotel because it is surrounded by the different type of shops and foods.

That’s all from me, time to get back to work. I’ll see you in the next post, bye bye.
