Exploring Copenhagen - A Visit to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

After my visit to the Finn Juhl House near Copenhagen I took the train for approximately half an hour more to Humlebaek, a coastal destination with the main attraction being the Louisana Museum of Modern Art. You may be thinking that this museum has a very strange name for a location in Denmark, but this name is actually from the family who owned the property on this land before they bought it from him. The owner married three women who were all named Louise, hence the name turned to Louisiana. A very unusual story I thought! haha

This museum is a beautiful gallery that balances art, architecture and sculpture in a very unique setting. The nature and open space always seems to be the draw in these situations, and Louisiana didn't disappoint. For such a random location there is an extensive collection of modern art showcased here, from sculptures by Alexander Calder and Isamu Noguchi in the park, to Warhol and Lichtenstein and Picasso and Kandinsky, everything is covered here and makes for a nice experience viewing them all.

I think the sculpture in the park against the backdrop of the sea became a focal point for me. It was also great to see the clean architecture, made from large sheets of glass with minimal obstructions that were obscured by the surrounding trees. The buildings were not intrusive, which is quite impressive considering the size of the structures in this location. They weave underground like a maze as to not to disrupt the nature above. Here I present a few photos I took with my trusty camera, I hope you like them! :)

Very cool sculptures and art.

Yeah! So many great sculptures here. Thanks for your comment.

I enjoyed reading your museum review, great photos! I specially like the first two.

Thanks @anna-bella. Glad you liked them and thanks for commenting. :)

your camera/film got a high dynamic range, the first photo says it all. In this high contrast situation, either its blackout, too dark indoors or whiteout too bright outdoors. But your camera/film did a great job.

Yeah, it was a tricky day to photography on as the sun was beaming. But they came out ok :) Thanks for your comment and the help. Just replying to your previous comment now :D

being in this museum seemed to be able to restore tired mind, great art, green atmosphere is very pleasant and soothing

Yeah, it was very peaceful. Thanks for your comment.
