SPOTTED #12: Washlets Toilets of the Future

in #travel8 years ago (edited)

If you are still using a normal toilet  you need to read this...

Did you ever travel to Japan and saw these funny toilets with some buttons? The moment you sat down you felt the heated toilet seat? Well you had found a Toto Washlet.

Introduced in 1980 in Japan the Toto Washlet (Let's Wash = Washlet) is from my point of view one of the most important inventions from the last century (Regarding Toilets).

Toto Washlet (Standard Version)

You can turn the washlet ON/OFF, Adjust the Water Pressure and use the Bidget etc.

So a Washlet is the Tesla of Toilets. It will start at 150 -300 $ for basic Washlet and the most expensive ones are sold for 1500 - 3000 USD.

Toto let's you customize your Washlet

Check out these functions you can select when customizing your Washlet (it's similar to a car order online)

While I never used the dryer function of a Washlet it is great to use water instead of toilet paper. Water temperature and pressure can be adjusted and it reduces the use of toilet paper by 95%.

If you live in the USA you might be familiar with Washlet's as 1990 TOTO introduced them the American market too. In 2016 around 40.000.000 Washlet's have been sold worldwide by TOTO alone (Of course there are other makers so the whole market numbers must be 2-5x that number)

If you want to buy a Washlet for Europe you need to buy in China or Thailand as they have 240V. US could use Japanese Washlet's as both are 110V. Washlet's are the cheapest in China and Thailand. You have to check if the seat will fit the toilet of your country. You will be able to save 1000$ + if you don't buy the over expensive versions sold in the US or Europe and important a cheap version which will cost around 150-500$.

Would you use a Washlet or did you use it before???

ABOUT ME: Some insides into my Steemit life

The first time I saw such a toilet, there was no English characters. I randomly pushed the buttons and got water spitted on myself. :)

LOL..
but if you do it right. it is quite usueful

That is actually the thing that misses the most one very close Japanese collaborator (close enough to discuss toilets... :p)

I am completely intrigued!!

Cleaner butts will mean anal sex will be the rage among horny people if these type of toilets becomes standard in homes.

dude sometimes I wish censoring was possible on steemit ;)

Sorry...it was a bad joke.
