Bulgaria Is Beautiful #11. Above The Clouds - Sokolna Hut

This is not a sunrise above the sea, this is a sunrise above the clouds.

I had the pleasure to experience a couple of days in Heaven in Sokolna Hut. It is located in Stara Planina (meaning "old mountain"), which is the mountain splitting Bulgaria in two. The hut is above Gabarevo village. Let me start from the beginning of the trip.

First, I got on the train with my friend and traveled for about six hours to the village. Then, we had to walk for about an hour to get to the mountain.


What you see in the distance in Stara Planina. Once we got to it, we had to walk for two hours on a quite steep path.

We saw a tap coming out of a tree, which was quite extraordinary. Moving forward, we finally got to the hut. It was late at night, so this is a picture from the morning after

At the hut, I got to make a lot of new wonderful friends.


I fell in love with this cute doggie. It seems that the feelings were mutual.

The luck was on our side, as the weather conditions were such, that the clouds were low and it was really like Heaven.

Inside the hut itself, it looked like were are on an airplane.

Don't you just want to dive in?


We spent the days quite casually playing games and chilling.


I got inspired and drew a memory from the seaside.

But that is another story. Back to the hut. Who would refuse a good joint in a view like this?

Unfortunately, this wonderful person is no longer with us. Rest in peace Ivo. I know you are in your Heavens. <3

Days went by and we were so blessed to witness those magnificent sunrises.






Before we knew it, it was time to go back. The lower we were getting, the closer to the border between the heavens and earth.
