Friday Street Photography: Home-made Fruit Juices on Wheel,น้ำผลไม้ไทยและจีนโฮมเมดเย็นๆ

รถเข็นเล็กๆคันเดียวมีน้ำผลไม้ไทยหลายชนิดให้เลือกซื้อในราคาย่อมเยาว์ มีตั้งแต่ราคาสิบบาทขึ้นไปถึงสี่สิบบาท แต่ก็ยังถูกกว่าไปดื่มกาแฟตามร้านหรูมากนัก น้ำผลไม้ไทยมี น้ำมะตูม ลำใย กระเจี๊ยบ ที่แพงขึ้นไปคือน้ำทับทิม เสาวรส สัปปะรด และมะม่วง และฝรั่ง นอกจากนี้ยังมีเฉาก๊วยด้วย คนขายมีความคิดดีมากที่ไปหาป้ายภาษาอังกฤษที่มีภาพผลไม้และราคา ทำให้ชาวต่างชาติไม่ต้องลำบากในการสื่อสาร แค่ชี้ไปที่รูปภาพ คนขายก็หยิบขวดที่ต้องการให้ได้ทันที

เราไม่รู้ว่าวันหนึ่งเธอขายได้กี่ขวด เธอมีความอดทนมากนั่งอยู่ตรงนี้ทั้งวันเพื่อขายของ กำไรที่ได้ก็น้อยมากเมื่อเทียบกับการขายกาแฟฝรั่งในร้านหรู ต้นทุนมีมาแค่นี้ก็ต้องพยายามดิ้นรนกันต่อไป เห็นคนที่เขาต้องลำบากกว่าเราหลายสิบเท่าแล้วเคารพในความอึดและความขยันอดทนของเขาเหล่านั้นมากๆ เรานั่งทำงานในห้องแอร์ งานก็สบายไม่ต้องลำบากกายเลย ฉะนั้นต้องพอใจในส่งที่ตนเองมีอยู่แบบเศรษฐกิจพอเพียง

This small fruit juice stall on-wheel has more than ten kinds of Thai fruit juices on offer with my favourite Chinese black jelly (or water glass jelly which is made from boiling Chinese plants). The cheapest Thai fruit juices are Roselle water, Longan water, Water Glass jelly and Chrysanthemum water. More expensive fruit juices include Pomegranate juice, Passion fruits, Pineapple juice, Mango juice and Guava.

This lady has to sit her by her stall all day long through rain and sunshine to sell her small bottles of home-made Thai fruit juices. The prices are very cheap when comparing with the prices of fancy coffees in air-conditioned coffee shops. Her margin for making profit is very small. I do wonder how many bottles she would be able to sell on a good day. People on a lower rung of education often have to try to sell some kinds of goods for their livelihood. They cannot afford to rent a shop or employ helpers.

Whenever I see people from the uneducated class working so hard like this, I feel quite concerned for their future security. What would they do when they are too old to depend on their physical labour? How would they manage in time of economic upheavals and uncertainty? I do respect their fighting spirit and perseverance in trying to survive with honest occupation. I quietly wish them well and make a wish for them to make lots of money that day. Whenever possible, I would support local products and spend money buying things from poor vendors; I always avoid going into expensive shops with imported goods. Let’s help the little hard working people!
