Animal Photography: Skink in my garden sink, จิ้งเหลนในอ่างล้างมือในสวนหลังบ้าน
This is my entry for the animal photography contest hosted by @juliank.
Two weeks ago, I found this beautiful skink (Scincidae) getting stuck in the sink in my garden. I was amazed that this skink could not get out of the metal sink as he could not find a grip or suction under his feet. He was running in a circle in the sink as he was very frightened by my presence. I had never caught a reptile by hand and I was afraid of harming him. So, I got some dry leaves and use these to help him out of the sink. He was gone in a flash, very beautiful skin patterns. Years ago, I would have run away as most city dwellers would do. Nowadays, I am trying to communicate with all animals. I still cannot talk to those big red ants!!
เมื่อสองสัปดาห์ก่อนไปเจอจิ้งเหลนในอ่างล้างมือในสวน พอมันเห็นคนมันก็วิ่งหนีเป็นวงกลมรอบอ่าง ดูแล้วน่าสงสารมาก ทุกชีวิตต้องการอยู่รอด ไม่กล้าใช้มือจับเพราะกลัวไปบีบมันแรงทำให้เจ็บ เลยวิ่งไปหาใบไม้มาหลายใบเอามาให้มันไต่ขึ้นมาจากอ่าง ไม่เคยคิดว่าสัตว์หลายอย่างจะไม่สามารถเกาะข้างอ่างลื่นๆได้ ถ้ามันติดอยู่เกินสองวันคงจะไม่รอดแน่ มีอะไรบางอย่างทำให้เดินไปที่มุมนี้ทำให้ได้ช่วยชีวิต จิ้งเหลนในอ่างล้างมือ เดี๋ยวนี้ไม่กลัวสัตว์เลื้อยคลานแล้ว พยายามคุยกับสัตว์ที่เจอ แต่ก็ยังคุยกับมดแดงตัวใหญ่ไม่รู้เรื่อง ไม่รู้ว่ามันมาจากดาวดวงไหนถึงคุยภาษาคนไม่รู้เรื่อง น่าส่งไปเรียนโรงเรียนอนุบาลจริงๆ

There are some interesting animals in Thailand. This one looks like a snake with legs. I remember riding my bike in the north one time and see a flying snake slither through the air across my path. Never seen one of these though.
We have many of these skinks in the garden, they seem to thrive on the supply of insects. We don't use any chemical fertilizer or pesticides, so there are lots of insects and creepy crawlies around!
You are talking about those orange flying lizards that can be found mostly in the south of Thailand. Those in the forest areas in the north may be another colour. These are known as Draco Volan.
I wish I had some of these on my big trees!

Yes, he looked skinny and thirsty! It was very hot there as well! He had a bad sun burn!!
Now he's okay.
