Her white hairs lay like a wreath around her head, her light gray eyes stared almost lifeless to the ceiling. She counted the number of white painted shelves on the ceiling. They were tall and stately as they ever hoped to become. Reflected in her mind, she did not notice that a sister came in. The woman sat down on the bed of her bed, Soof where do you think? Scared, the girl turned her head. She smiled at the sister, does mom still come? The sister shook her head, today she did not smile. Go to sleep Soof, that's better for your head. Sister, how long am I still here? The woman smiled again when the big wounds were healed. The woman cradled the child asleep and left the room.

Every day the child asked her mother, but she did not come. And every day, the sister sang her sleep after asking this question to save her from an evil reality. It seemed a daily routine. Yet one day Sophie got the bad news. Sophie had been resigned from the hospital and her aunt Agaath and uncle Peet would pick her up. Do not I go with Mom? Had she asked, the tears jumped in the eyes of Aunt Agaath, dear your mother is in deep rest! Had she answered what Sophie asked, is she dead?
No, oh, of course, she does not sleep, very deep! Agaath impressed the child, because how do you explain to a child of almost six that her mother is in coma? How long does she sleep aunt? The woman looked anxiously at her husband who was a little shy, uncle Peet sighed, I think for a hundred years. That seemed to work the poor child got a little quieter, are they woken up by a prince? Of course, sweetheart smiled Agaath.

Sophie drew in with her aunt and uncle, the house was not very big but very cozy also it was near the hospital. Every day at four o'clock her aunt and the little girl walked to the hospital to watch the sleeping woman. Then Sophie stared at her mother and said, Aunt would she recognize me when she woke up? Agaath smiled, yes, I think so.
The woman looked at her daughter, also she had thin almost white hairs and a pointed nose, her body looked fragile and two bright blue eyes beneath her closed eyelids. Sometimes Sophie wanted to shout, shout at her mother that she had to wake up that she had to get up and that she should not be so lazy because she did not understand. But she kept going, she pulled herself back into her room and refused to open the door. Opened when she was in the hospital together with Agaath, and Agaath left the room, she decided to see if her mother's bright blue viewers were still there. Slowly she pulled up an eyelid, she was warm and she breathed gently. Her mother's blue eyes were still there, but they did not look at her. She was still deeply in bed. Mom, wake up, pity them,

Sophie grew older and older, not physical but mental.
It did not take long to find out if you could not sleep for a hundred years,
stamping down the stairs looking for Aunt Agaath and Uncle Peet.
She found her aunt in the kitchen, aunt it's impossible to sleep for a hundred years, what's up with mom? Aunt was totally shocked and clung to the stove. Sophie, honey what are you telling me now? The tears held her in her eyes, she quickly hit a glass of water. Sophie dared to say nothing, after a long silence she asked, is mom dead? Agaath shook her head hard, oh definitely not!
She lies in a very deep sleep, not for a hundred years but for a long time. Sophie was not satisfied with this answer, because she had lied to her, and why did she sleep so long? It really meant to Agaath that Sophie needed to know the reality, how hard it was.
Do you still know the car crash? Sophie nodded, that was written on her retina.
Agaath sighs, sometimes when people are severely injured by their brains, are kept in an artificial sleep so that they can recover. Sophie nodded, she found it hard to understand but at least she had a reasonable answer.
Agaath smiled, sometimes people who are in coma can hear you!
This was Sophie's courage.
She jumped up and said, tomorrow I'm going to talk to Mom!
