"Step aside Raven, I'll take care of this scum." Keeper drew her heavy bow slow enough for the Duke to recognize her before letting fly her silver tipped arrow plunging straight through his heart. The Duke gasped dropping his sabre as he fell. "Relax friend, we already took care of the Huntsmann some of them ran into the jungle, let us take over”She looked over the Raven, “You know you look terrible...2nd Dragoons, follow me and attack!"

He rummaged into the horse's saddle bag “Got it right here!” The elated John Silver grasped the bar and held it up. “So this is the…the…” His smile and tone of his voice soon diminished as his energy drained from his body dropping him to his knees. His eyes bulged in a panic, “heeelp….”
The Raven pried the Cursed bar from his vice-like grip as John collapsed to the ground. “I…I couldn’t let go of it!”
“You’ll be okay.” The Raven gave John a pat on the shoulder, “I thought I told everyone not to touch it with bare hands.” The Duke knew holding let alone using the Nemesis relic drained the life energy from the holder. She understood the nature of such dangerous relics endowed with a curse, a blessing or both. Silver has unique properties that can assume spiritual Powers more than any other.

On the seventh day in the Waki village enclave the remaining Night Crawlers and Spyders barricaded themselves within the makeshift shelter and safety of the dwellings with hunger and fatigue gnawing within their ranks. The previous night bought no rest for those holding out for the expected relief from the task force. The last of the precious ammunition spent shooting at spurious phantoms in the dark, and at voices and footsteps on the thatched rooves. At the same time fearing with just one flame could set their shelters ablaze forcing them to flee out into the open into an unimaginable slaughter.

When the morning broke, flags from the five battle ships were already laid out on the village center proving that the solders can expect no reinforcements or rescue. At the entrance of the village a disheveled Captain Jaagen of the Dutch Mist accompanied by whom they can see for the first time, The Bloody Raven herself; darker than night, unseizable as a shadow, a macabre beauty that adorned death like a fragrance, and a daughter of the Devil. And nearby, the infamous Captain Flint, Long John Silver and Charles Vane with a force of hundreds of Pirates and allies. She followed Jaagen into the village entrance along with a score of survivors from ship hands, disarmed Marines to the wounded that we're abandoned to the mercy of the pirates in the battle of the ridge and jungle grove.

The Raven put her hand on the back of his shoulder, "Captain Jaagen, you will order those men to surrender. How they will conduct themselves will determine your lives in the next few moments understood?."
The Captain turned to the Raven, nodded, “I understand.” He then lifted his face towards the village houses, “Proud men of the Night Crawlers and Spyders Expeditionary Task force. As you can see our wounded have been treated properly and I myself and Captain Bellini have not been harmed under their capture. As you can see we cannot expect relief, so based on my observations and insofar as the treatment of prisoners I must order you men to surrender unconditionally.”

There was only a brief silence followed by the opening of the rusty hinged doors of each dwelling. A white cloth tied on an improvised pole of a tree branch. One by one uniformed men of the Diablo, Huntsmann, Wolf Pack, and regulars slowly filed out tossing their weapons into a pile over the flags.

One husky man stood tall in his red uniform, his flintlock pistol in his belt, sword on his left, and a large combat knife strapped to his right leg. His stature defiant and eyes focused and refused to give in to the order to submit. In a calm motion unlatched his sword by the scabbard with his left hand and he presented hilt first as he approached The Raven. His grim stoic expression now had become a slight grin. His right hand muscles tensed… Just as he hands over his sword…
It reached for his pistol, cocked the trigger, raised it to the Raven’s heart and fired!

The bullet rings off her lightning blade!

He throws the spent pistol, Raven evades as he drew his mammoth Combat knife and immediately slashes upward inches from her face. With each step forward he slashes with power and ferocity, her sword clashes with his knife as she could feel the powerful blows rattle down the blade into her hands. He is No doubt an experienced killer of men. His left hand reached behind and yielded a hatchet, Greer pressed forward slashing or chopping with each breath and grunt telegraphing his attack, “Die you Witch! Die!” He circles to her left taking advantage of her wounds. In response, she adjusted her stance to avoid too much weight bearing on the left. Every clash of the blades gauged his intent and resolve. His eyes focus on just killing her but her eyes never showed neither panic nor give way any emotion but a zen-like calm. Blow by bone rattling blow backing, studying, waiting, for a weakness in his constant attack. He cannot maintain this pace too long.

The crew stunned at the attack now raised their weapons at the prisoners. In unison Flint and John Silver both leveled their rifles at the defiant Officer.
In between blows the Raven intervenes, “No, don’t kill the prisoners, this officer is mine to judge!”

The Jungle now silent with only the rhythm of clashing steel, labored breath and footsteps of the final two combatants.
The Raven for a moment admired the stamina of this warrior-‘butcher’ and his skill was exemplary even for a man within his Military profession but he cruelly used it for personal gain at the expense of his humanity. She could only speculate on his politics, morals, and the countless victims of his past. But for the present the heavens put her here. An enemy like many of her opponents over the last three hundred years, becoming judge, jury…

With Greer almost breathless, the rhythm of his attack ceased, and held his weapons down, “Why are we fighting like this? I can see you are an excellent and very talented fighter! Join me and we could do anything as a fighting force, Kings and armies will fear us!” A surprising disarming smile appeared on his lips and his eyes softened. “Join me...” Raven mirrored his stance and let her blade tip down and shifted her left foot forward. Greer’s hand muscles tensed at her first step forward. In that moment the smile disappeared, his knife lifted. She launched off her right foot with the fluidity of a wild Gazelle and feeling the blade separating flesh from flesh, a quick flick of the blade shaking off the blood, sheathing her sword before Greer’s headless body could collapse to the ground.

Colonel “The Executioner” Greer commander of The Night Crawlers is himself executed.

As a person that prefers good intelligence and attention to detail there was one particular document that stood out among the wealth of documents contained in the Shield ships. Could this be the symbol of their true secret Paymasters?

The Raven carefully places the Nemesis bar into the special chest.
A chest constructed of Gopher wood, a rare Middle Eastern tree, the same wood used for the Hebrews Ark of the covenant. The monk that fashioned it spent all he had to acquire the wood and blessed it as his vision led him to do. He never saw the purpose of his life's work come to pass, as his younger acolyte claimed to see this chest beholden by a heavenly light at the same time a lonely woman sought refuge in that very Asian monastery that night. From the light he claimed to hear an Angel's voice that commanded him to give the chest to this dark woman.

So why does it not affect me? Is it because I am immortal? Perhaps.
But my immortality is it's own curse, not quite alive, nor quite dead either.
