Ramblings on Life #10 Why should anyone read your blogs?

You may want all of Steemit to come flock to your post, read it, comment on it and upvote it to the moon.

But why should they? Why should anybody read anything you write?

Perhaps you are a huge celebrity like Brad Pitt or an awesome author like J K Rowling?

None of that?

May be you came back from the dead? Yeah, that would make your readers read as long as you don't come off as a scam star.

People follow people because of a reason. People want value out of their connections, they want something in return for their attention.

On Steemit, there are really only a few ways you can actually attract consistent followers who give value to you in return through their engagement and upvoting. Keep in mind, I am not talking about gaining followers by doling out upvotes on shitty comments made on shitty posts. That doesn't work for a planton or a minnow. Neither does follow for follow idiocy.

You are a Steemit celebrity

Yes, that's the most obvious one. If you are a whale, you are automatically a celebrity on Steemit. Whatever you do, people will notice. They will upvote you, they will engage in your posts even if you don't want and find that a lot of them are spammers.

But if you are really reading this, it's highly unlikely that you are a whale. If you are indeed a whale, I think my stars are finally shining on me. Follow me please and don't forget to give a juicy upvote before leaving, lolz!!!

If you are a dolphin, that also makes you a minor celebrity, not the big stars but still with a pretty decent fan-following.

However, chances are you are a minnow or a plankton, and you should really be GOOD to get a foothold here.

You have some interesting shit to share

Perhaps you really came back from the dead or remember something from your previous life.

Or something more realistic: you are a great fiction writer and you have the ability to suck your readers into your stories. You can make them laugh when you are funny, make them cry if you are able to touch their emotions.

The other way is if you are a really good non-fiction writer who shares good information, something which satisfies the reader's thirst for knowledge. You must absolutely avoid plagiarizing which is the easiest thing to do in this genre but believe me, once you get caught you will simply be disposed of by your readers.

You add real value to your readers

You inspire your readers, you motivate them, teach them how to progress on Steemit, or teach them some other skill which they can leverage in their path forward in life.

Everyone has something to teach, and there are people who want to learn what you know well.

Even if it's not some tangible knowledge, you can teach them skills from your own experience, knowledge or area of expertise, to help them grow in life each day and encourage them to realize their dreams.

There are other things which you can do to make your readers read what you write but I think the above broad categories cover most of it.

With each post, I ask myself why will my readers read this post.

With each post, I hope I add value in some way and I also hope that I improve a little every time.

I'm an avid believer in 'adding values' first. Then the rewards will come later... if not eventually :) @svkrulze

Haha, I hope it comes eventually ;) lolz

There are two main things people need to remember when playing in steemit.
Create good content.... dont copy other peoples work and pass it off as your own.
Be consistent, don't think after three weeks being on the platform you are going to start making a couple of hundred sbd's.
Sometimes I wish steemit did not have trending.... just new posts so everyone has a fair chance of being seen.
This is a good post well formatted thank you for posting this. Would be great to collab with you on content ideas.

That's a great idea, just remove the trending page altogether. Let people find content on their own.

7 minites with 41 upvote ?? how is this possible?

How do I work? any youtube video? @svkrulze

Visit their site and profile, details are there

Great musings, I often wonder the same thing. Maybe that's why I use so many pictures 😀

Yeah, pictures are great... I think they add some colour to the black and white text

Creating value is key. You've got to be giving your audience something, or they won't be your audience for long. That something could be education, insight, or even entertainment, but they have to feel like you're doing something.

Yes, I completely agree. A few of them may come to get a upvote or two but in the long run, you need to provide real value to real followers

Thanks SVK. That's a really good question and you answered it so well. I agree -- there's gotta be something of value to whatever demographic you're firing at.

Also, I'd add that commenting regularly on other people's posts is a good way to get them to remember to visit yours. I'm terribly forgetful and rely on @ginabot to ping me when something's happening. Like now :P

Love this post
cheers

Yes, @ginabot is a saviour. Commenting is a trick which I tell anyone who is new here. That's how I got started

Providing value and being a part of the community are some of the most important things. I noticed some people with big platforms have tried to come here but did not engage with the community and havent made posts here in a while. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule lol.

I was lucky to come here with a platform from my books, but I still need to put out quality content to get noticed.

You are a real life author?? That's great man, will have to check what you write about :)

Yes, I am an author and journalist, I write mostly about activism and philosophy. I have 4 books out so far, but they have all been self-published. I just finished my 5th book, but I am going to try to get a real publisher for this one. It is very hard to sell books when you self-publish.

Some day I would like to know about your experiences on self publishing. Have you posted any article on that?

Not yet, but that is a good idea. People may be very interested in something like that. I use createspace.com . It is easy and totally free, and your books are automatically placed on amazon too.

Greetings! I am a minnow exclusive bot that gives a 5X upvote! I recommend this amazing guide on how to be a steemit rockstar! I was made by @EarthNation to make Steemit easier and more rewarding for minnows.
