I hear you, @sams-world, I'm in the same boat. My problem is that I often lack time because life is busy and rich outside steemit. I'm trying to keep up but constantly feel that I'm missing things. There are a million posts that I know would help me along, and I'm reading as much as I can fit in, but there are always so many more that I don't get to. In any case, I think I have to take it slowly and be content with what I can do. And then there's the time difference that messes with my ability to participate in discord, and I worry people will think I don't want to participate. I'm also a bit shy but I've met many great people such as @dreemsteem who has offered to take me in and guide me through a show. So I'll look forward to that, when I'm ready. I just have to find the time for it. And sometimes when I have a day off and would have the time, and also find that my eyes are giving me trouble after a few hours, and I have to take a break, go outside and look at faraway trees and bathe in the sun for a bit. But we newbies will get the hang of it if eventually, all at our own pace. I'm so grateful I found this place, love, love, love the people, the learnings and the entertainment, and also the reward systems. Really awesome stuff. I wish you good luck on your journey!

Morning lady!!! ♥️
It really is about finding and holding your community (which becomes your family) hehhee

It's nice to see that we all start to find one another too... All three of us @sams-world, @ydraz, and me... Hehehhe we are all from @buddyup! ♥️🎏
There is no need to push at too strong of a pace... When you have your "tribe", just add to it by being you! Genuine, creative, loving.... And you will grow, and so will your tribe!!!

Love you Drazzy!!!!! And yes - on the show! You will be amazing!!!! ♥️

Hey @ydraz, thanks so much for sharing. You know, I feel the same sometimes... I also just told myself to be patient, and not to overpush... but to simply go with the flow...

I started here a few weeks ago, because I sought for a challenge, to write more and to learn a bit about this platform, it had unfolded itself as so much more than I ever expected :)

I believe there's a fine balance between challenging yourself and comforting yourself.

Your sharing was so helpful to me... So many insights are coming up for me at the moment... Thank you so much, and hope to hear you soon on the discord too... :) (i just listened in yesterday for the first time ever... and I was amazed by the community and support)

At first, focus on leaving insightful comments. That will get your name out there and will bring in followers.

The only way to to succeed here is through hard work, dedication and - my e most of all social interaction.

When I first strted here, I was completely lost. Didn’t really know what I was doing. Then I bumped into the people of #newbieresteemday who showed me my path on SteemIt: helping out where I can, supporting the ones tht are new and not-so-new, just by giving some advice from personal experience.

Just like everyone elSe, I came here to earn money. I consider
Myself as one of the fortunate few: it did’t take me long to realize that the strenght of community is worth so much more than the money will ever be

Also important: make sure to make a post about every thing you learn -this way you’ll be helping the ones that come behind you.

Join communities like #newbierestemday, @newbiegames, @sapers and more.

You see, the key is to get your name out and build connections. If you don’t focus on building a network, it’s going to be a lot harder to get noticed.

Join contests and games. The more you get your name out there, the more credibility you build. Also, you often run into the same people. Try to build a band with them. Once you get to know eachother better, they will be looking out for your blog posts.

Be genuine and real. Be supportive to others and this will be returnd to you.
The ‘pay it forward mentality is like the golden egg here on SteemIt.

The most importnt magic words are: Forget about the money; you’d better make friends and have good time, that is way more valuable.

And yes, you’ll
Porobably get descouraged every once in a while. But that’s why it is important to make some friends on here. Somehow someone will always be there to encourge you.

If you have any (more ) questions, always feel free to ask. I’m not pretending I have all the answers, but two know more than one (+ during my 6 months on Steemit I’ve built a rather hige network and even made a lot of real friendships, so there will always be someone who will be able to give some smart advice)

You are for sure AMAZING mike :)))) thank you so much for taking the time, there were some really good signposts for me. I'm realising the same about the value of community. About sharing from your heart, and about helping others. I've never joined a contest yet, but I'm on the edge to jump into it :P

It was so good to read from you!
Thank you so much for this.
Sam

You’re welcome.
I just re-read my comment, and please excuse me for all the typos in it. I feel awefully ashamed now, lol.
Working on my phone and suffering from the ‘small keys/fat finger’ syndrome :0)

I’ve been ‘out’ for a while because of surgery, but now I’m trying to bring the @newbiegames account back to life. You’ll find quite some easy-to-join contests and games there.
Good luck! :0)

thanks. don't worry about the typos.. haha, I don't even want to know how many I do each day.. :D you at least have a good excuse... It astonished me even more, to see that you wrote all this with the mobile (?) :o

I had a back surgery in February, and another one three weeks ago. Sitting is not recommended, so my laptop is off limit (I do have a tilt table, but ever tried typing on a keyboard when lying down? It’s fairly impossible, lol)
So my phone has been my best friend these last couple of months.

My typing speed on my tablet is so low, that I only use it to do the layout of my posts.

You can’t imagine how happy I will be when (if?) I’m fully recovered in a couple of weeks (months?). The phone is okay, but still it takes a lot more time to type posts and comments.
But hey... at least I still have that, and I’m grateful for it :0)

You have my greatest respect! I'm wishing you all the best Mike! such experiences must bring you a lot of gratitude for the little things... i look forward for you to be fully recovered!!

Thanks.
It has indeed taught me to not take things for granted, and to be happy with every small, new achievement.
Instead of trying to be everywhere at the same time, I’ve learned to be thankful for every (baby) step forward.
My perspective has definitely changed, and although I’m still having a hard time accepting I’m simply not fit enough to do what I want to do, for now I try to listen to my body and be happy with everything I do accomplish, whereas before I got frustrated with every little thing I couldn’t accomplish.
Guess those are the lessons in life one’s got to learn ... :0)

oh yes, you know, I think it will be so interesting and inspiring to read a few posts about your experiences and learning of this... (or have you already)

The learning curve is very steep to start with, that's an understatement for sure! You can only learn so much at a time and that's usually by asking questions from those who've been here a few months, discord can be handy for this or steemit.chat.

What keeps me going? The potential that Steem has in the new emerging world, as well as the benefits it has for all of us as creators growing as a community.

And.. to bring the last points together into something that's graspable and meaningful... take action every day. Live for the hustle.

Make sure you're always improving from your last piece.

:)

thank's again for your empowering words! it's great to hear this from someone with more experience! I'm taking it to the heart. It's very appreciated! thanks @calumam

I hear ya man! You learn something new EVERYDAY! I pride myself in knowing that I have organically grown my Steemit acct. Meaning, I havent bought my way up. Many many people do, and I admit it would make things move a little more quickly. But I came to Steemit for something else. I know Im not going to make millions from this... Hell, Ill be lucky to one day treat my friends to a cup of coffee with the earnings! I came here to write and share my thoughts and pictures. What happened once I got here was something far more beautiful than I thought could happen. I made friendships! Theres so many on here that I can only wish to meet one day in person. Ive seen that theres still love in the world and people still care. Its easy to get lost in our own lives and problems, but when you look around, your lifes not near as bad as it seems! Its wonderful to see what can happen when everyone works together to push for the greater good, in any situation. These are just a few of the things that Ive learned in my short 5 months of being here and it goes way beyond anything monetary.

When you start to make connections with real people, even when they live on the other side of the world, you get paid in bounties. Spread your wings, meet new people, make connections, and when you start to do these things (and I know you have ;)) youll see your acct start building. The upvoted you receive are only part of the building block of the platform. The real push comes from the friendships!

Like Ive said before, youre doing marvelous! Really, you are, Im not blowing sunshine up your ass! :) Keep it up buddy!

gosh this is once again so insightful from you!! I deeply appreciate it (and don't feel any sunshine in my ass)... haha

Thank you so much for taking the time and write your point of view. I can resonate with it a lot. It was so good to hear from you!:))
Sam

  • How do you guys manage to do all this?
I ask this question to people every day. as you progress here it does get easier
  • What keeps you going?
  • What are your motivations , your mindsets for mastery
The people . The people here ! A rising tide raises all boats
-How did you start out here?
4 months ago I engaged with a lot of people . a lot , I started from scratch and had to learn everything . Still learning , Got involved with communities @greetersguild @asapers and of course @payitforward
  • What's your take on the current situation of creating content and building yourself up on Steemit?
Thats a big question , read my blogs LOL

haha, the answer to your last question, I knew already ;) thanks man!

@wolfhart has some great advice on the @greetersguild discord channel he has his own 'boot camp' room. Exposure is key, but you know that from already having a blog. What you have done in 3 weeks has take me 4 months, so you're doing great. The biggest thing I can suggest, which I see you doing is comment. Genuine comments and interaction.

thank you @tryskele, I believe too that the community aspect is one of the absolute strongest assets here on steemit. (Which is kinda great :) ) ... thank you for your words. I didn't know greetersguild so far, I think I'd like to have a look on wolfhart's bootcamp.
Sam

Just need to go to our @greetersguild page and click on the discord link :) I think you would like it. And you are very welcome :)

thanks I'm checking it now!! and.. hey! thank you so much for your words and the time you took in the latest post for greeters guild, and for mentioning me. It came so surprisingly to me, and it was so uplifting to read! thank you

The thing I love about Steemit is the fact that it is a brand new blogging platform. That not only makes it ideal for Bloggers, but also makes it ideal to socialise across the Internet, something which social media was built for, but lost due to the sheer amount of people using it.
Right now, it is the perfect place to sit and discover new people while share yourself with the world. And therein lies the key to it.
Steemit is thus far, true to its nature of being a social media platform once you remove all the bid bots and self-votes. With Steemit, you can reach out to a lot of people with a part of yourself. Interact with them. Make new friends. Talk about stuff. The fact that Steemit is a blog based platform only helps further this. You can actually get to subjectively know a person because of this. That's what Steemit is all about. A million different stories from a million different people time via the means of the word.
So in order to be successful in Steemit, you need to engage with people. Make meaningful comments which have value. Help others or with what you have. Share your subjective interpretation and instances, and use that as a means to share what you truly are. Resteem something if you think it is worth sharing with however many followers you have. It does not matter whether it is trending, new, hot, or promoted. What matters is whether you like it or not, and that is what determines who you are. Finally, keep unfiltered, unchanged pieces of your soul through your keyboard so that others can bask in its essence through their screens.
Steemit is a beautiful place which is all about sharing and caring. Narcissism and superficial goals will not go far on this platform. Let it remain so, and make it what social media is all about through your own actions and interactions. We humans are a pack animal and the goal everywhere remains the same. You scratch my back, I scratch yours. And like in everything, Consistency is the key.
Good luck!

I wish I had more voting power for this. Thank you a ton for taking the time @grimfangs and sharing. It's so valuable.

"Finally, keep unfiltered, u chanced pieces of your soul through your keyboard so that others can bask in its essence through their screens." - I believe the same, and I think it is the challenge and responsibility of each creator, not only here but everywhere.

thanks again! and best wishes to you!
Sam

Whoops. Sorry for the typo. I'm using a mobile platform.

haha, no worries, I got your point :)))

Hey Sam! First of all, very strong start here on steemit, mate! Not sure if i'm qualified to be giving anyone any advice here, but just my take on it all :-)

  1. For me interaction is everything and what I view as being one of the main components of a strong community. So engage with stuff you truly like and care about and don't bother with the rest. People can smell BS a mile off so stay true to your interests.
  2. You have to be in it for more than just the money. If you hate blogging and don't enjoy commenting on other people's content and engaging with them, then you're probably not going to make it too far on steemit. Find something you love and then find a way to effectively communicate about it, whether it be videos, blogging or photos.

Best of luck and keep going! You're killing it ;-)

haha @Yasminep, you are more than qualified. Thank you so much for your awesome comment. I appreciate it so much. To your first point: "People can smell BS a mile off" - I agree so much with you. It had been a huge learning curve for me the past 3 years, while I built my own blog..
And to your second one: "Find something you love and then find a way to effectively communicate about it" I think you nailed it here! Thank you again!
Best wishes to you too :)
Sam

You're very sweet for responding, Sam. Best of luck, truly. Anything you need you know how to find me!

thank you! will be keeping you in mind!
have an amazing day!

This is probably the best advice you can give anyone, no matter what you're talking about.
Kudos!

I by no means consider myself as an expert but I can tell from what I’ve seen from you so far that you are off to a very good start.🌟
From reading what you published, I can tell it comes from a genuine place and that you put your heart into the words you write.
I believe that it is what will make the difference.
To write because you are passionate about doing so and as you said, for the purpose of having an impact, whether big or small.
The rest will fall into place with enough persistance, but I know you will:)

Stay true to you and you will shine bright my friend!
You can count on me to follow your journey every step of the way🌟😘

<3 beautiful words! god, I always love to read your comments! :) thank you so much for your encouraging lines. It means a lot!!

Awwww you're so sweet!:P
Your replies makes my day too haha:)
xx

haha, if one of us has a shitty day, we just go and comment on each others posts :D haha

I think commenting and engaging with communities within Steem is very important and has benefits outside of just gaining influence. Such as actually using Steam as a community platform and not just as a way of making money.

Yes, I'm realising the same here. It's a good question to ask: If money wouldn't be a question, would you still do it? For me the answer is yes, because I like it here way better than on other social media platforms.

Congratulations you have been upvoted and resteemed as part of #newbieresteemday's top 10 posts for the day! We invite you to use our tag to connect with more of our members. To learn more: Come Join Us!!! (Newbie Resteem Initiative)

Keep it up buddy, youll be on top in no time! ;) -smylie2005
