*one minnow at a time*
It seems as though 2018 is going to be the year for steemit! I have been seeing articles everyday talking about how people are helping their friends and family sign up for the steemit platform now that the price of both sbd and steem have really started to take off. People are beginning to take steemit seriously now and it's starting to show. I see people promoting steemit everywhere in other platforms like youtube, twitter and fb constantly.
The word is getting out.... Steemit is AWESOME and becoming UNSTOPABLE! But that is a whole other article in itself. Back to my point.
I am among those people helping to make this platform grow. I haven't done too much but I have helped a handful of my friends join already. Now after 5 long months I finally convinced my fiance to sign up for steemit! Seems like an easy task but it really wasn't. And it was all my fault, let me explain.
As most of you know steemit isn't really the most friendly place for new users. Sure the community is amazing, but the platform itself is complicated and hard to learn without much real direction at all for new users. Well I was stupid and complained about this a lot in the beginning which, unknowingly to me, scared her from trying steemit. But I have finally convinced her it was worth it and she did her first post today!
Now don't get me wrong, there are plenty of groups like @minnowsupport and @minnowuniversity that are all about helping along new minnows. And so many amazing people like @nairadaddy, @isaria and @kaoz who help support minnows and help them to learn the steemit platform with so many helpful articles about steemit and great comments that make you feel welcomed and a little less lost.
There are also Discords, steemit chat and a lot of other groups and people who are constantly helping new minnows. I appologize that I can't name them all, please feel free to help me (in the comments section) to make a list so I can better help direct other new minnows to help!
Truth is there are so many helpful people on steemit, the platform itself just isn't helpful yet. Heres the problem though, if you don't know who to ask for help, then you will recieve help.
So what can we do?
For now just keep helping new minnows when you can. If you see a new minnow ask if they need help. If they do, try to point them in the right direction or to someone who can help. I'm not saying go out of your way if you don't want to, but atleast try to be somewhat helpful, remember how it felt when you first joined and were lost in the sea of steemit. As @nairadaddy and I often say
Together we can make steemit great "one minnow at a time."
There is hope
With hardfork 20 coming up a lot of these issues should be solved. Signing up for accounts will be instant and getting help on the platform should become exponentially easier, which means steemits growth will sky rocket making all of us early birds the big winners.
But don't wait for the hardfork, get everyone you know on steemit now and they will thank you later!
Please take a minute to check out my fiances' first post. We all know how it feels to do poorly on our first post and I don't want her to get discouraged immediately after all the work it took to get her on steemit! lol. She doesn't know I'm making this post though, so don't tell her I sent you. shhh ;)

This sounds silly, and something I never thought about to tell people - because I was lucky enough to come across it......
the little bottom right hand corner? - you know, to drag the dialogue box wide open...?
I came across a post last week, where people didn't realize- for a long time - that they could open it up, to make life easier in constructing posts....
so make sure you tell people! lol

I will check out the post. Nice of you to promote her. ;) Did you know when we start out, we actually aren't minnows? We are known as red fish or plankton. We are what the minnows actually feed on. I did a post about it here. You have to have ONE MILLION vests to become a minnow. I am still not even there. :( So sad. Anyway, looking forward to what happens in 2018 with steemit...and STEEM.

Nice! Congrats on almost being a minnow. I would be but keep cashing in my SBD instead of converting it. ;) I just read about witnesses yesterday and I still have no clue about them. Oh well. I get the slider through Tamper Monkey on Firefox. It has made a difference in how I am able to vote. Voting 100% every time was killing me.
I didnt know there was a way to get a slider without having sp delegated to me!?! How?? Im only 10 sp away from my bar now but full upvotes have been making my life difficult. :/
