A shoutout to all the amazing people on steemit! My steemaversary.

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

Today is my 1 year anniversary since I started steemit! It has been a crazy journey to say the least. When I started here on steemit I really had no clue what to expect. I had quit facebook years prior and never expected to return to social media but heard about this place (called steemit) where I could get paid to blog and since I had always been interested in writing a book I figured getting paid to brush up on my writing skills sounded pretty awesome.

I heard about steemit from a great man named Gregory Mannarino. He is a stock broker that has an extremely popular youtube channel and also a steemit channel called @marketreport, from back in the day when i actually cared about what was happening to the economy. After months of listening to his youtube channel and him promoting steemit I had to check it out and boy am I glad I did.

Like the modo here on steemit I "came for the rewards, but stayed for the community." Steemit has shown me a family that I never realized could soley exist online. I feel like I have made friends here that are way better than most "real" friends I have had in my life. Any kind of community I am looking for pretty much exists here on steemit. Whether its people who love to be healthy, or homesteaders, or photography, or people who love weed, or silver, or politics, or anarchist, or truthers or crypto lovers, it really is a place that has every kind of person anyone could really ask for. These people do not only have the same interest as you but become true friends!

I have met people on steemit I never thought I would be close to. I have met people much older and much younger than me who have the same views and believes and don't judge me. I have found people like police officers and lobbiest who I never thought I could get along with who turn out to be truly great people and close friends. I have found people who are in bad places and need help from crazy hippies like me who have "been there and done that." I have found other soldiers and veterans who despise war as much as me and are doing their best to change things. I have found friends who are half way across the world or more and barely speak the same language.

I am truly happy that I found steemit! Thank you everyone who has made this such an awesome experience for me. I hope that I have changed other peoples lives as much as they have changed mine.

THANK YOU STEEMIANS FOR MAKING THIS SUCH AN AMAZING PLACE! :)

I'm one of those many people that can truly say

I "came for the rewards, but stayed for the community

Before SteemIt, I wouldn't have believed that you could build up a real friendship with people you had never met before. But, just like you, I did. I found my 'tribe(s)'.
Some of my SteemIt friends know more about me than most of my real-life friends.

SteemIt has really enriched my life, and I'm so grateful I found it, and pushed through, because the strength of the community is unique, and it means the world to me.

Steemit is what social media should be.. I have met so many amazing people like you, people that I would never have a chance of meeting on any other social media network. If you ever venture to NC let me know, you have a place to stay and friends to chill with ;)

True. Aside from my biz profiles on other social media, which were only used as means of promotion, I've kept my personal social profile on FB limited to people I know.
I started here on SteemIt because I wanted to use it as another platform to market on, but soon it became pretty personal, to say the least.
And, like you say, it gave me the opportunity to meet so many new people from all around the world...

We could really travel the world and have people to meet up with all over... if we'd want to.
So thanks for the offer. I like the idea, but in spite of how it may look like, I'm absolutely not good at social encounters. Lol. I was talking to Asher a couple of days ago about how I think going to Steemfest would really be an interesting concept, but that I'm way too shy to meet people i don't know ;0)

I "came for the rewards, but stayed for the community."

I feel the same way. Although this conspet isn't new to me. I was on livejournal for over a decade and made lifelong friends there. One of the things that really pulled me into steemit was that it seemed so similar to livejournal! I love it here and I look forward to celebrating my own one year in November.

Thank you for sharing such a positive post! :)

Is livejournal still around? Crazy how many social medias there are that I have never heard of. I am glad I found steemit too. Hopefully, I see your post in novermber :)

.
It is nice to have “met” you too. You have made some interesting lifestyle choices and had a bumpy ride along the way since I starting following you. But Steemit was there for you. I think the motto “come for the reward, but stay for the community” describes it perfectly.

Happy steemiversary to you

Thanks @poyim. "Interesting life choices" is a very nice way of saying it! LoL.. I have learned so much more than most people with all the crazy decisions I make and I am extremely happy living differently than most.. I considered life a roller coaster and like any ride there are ups and downs but truth be told nothing really matters except the lessons you learn and the memories you make along the way.. Everything else is just details.. I am glad to have this community to share my stories with and people like you to discuss it with.. thanks for all the conversations, i hope we have many more 😉 take care.

Yes. I agree. All very true.

If you continue to share your stories, then I will continue to converse. :)

Take care.

Hey man, congrats right back to you after doing so on my 1 year last week. There are people that stand out on this platform who provide real engagement and you're one of them.

I also wanted to be a writer growing up and craft that "great American novel" but life got in the way. Looking forward to year 2, I see you growing along with Steemit, to the Moon!

Thanks bro, I really appreciate that! People like you are why I stick around steemit 😎
As far as writing goes I never thought I could write great novels, i just dont have the imagination for that! However, I have experienced so much in war that i thought people might be interested in reading it. Then quite a few of my friends told me my whole life story is so crazy that people might want to read about it all, not just my time at war.. Unfortunately even after a year of steemit I still suck at putting words to paper, well atleast not as well as I talk about it.. LoL.. So I will continue to write until that day comes, if ever 😂

Thanks for the support and spreading so much love @luvbug! I didn't realize u had a tag to help the community so much, thats so awesome of u! i will definitely take advantage of that more in the future.. stay cool 😎 and steem on.

Thank you bro, and thanks for all the support for so long.. You are truly a good friend.. 😊

my best friend - AN ADVICE = now in steemit any vote value as in total reward is less than 0.025 is considered DUST and equals to zero. so the voter and the post owner will get dust - zero-nothing and THE VOTER ( YOU) will lose power for nothing ...
please stop voting if the reward of final vote is less than 0.025 sbd
stop voting comments if your vote value is less than 0.025 sbd for solo votes
i had done 2 posts about this subject and even steeit gurus also done and wrote many posts about the same issue...

you will lose power and curation, the blogger will lose the reward if it is less than 0.025, and the winner is the owners of the steemit as this rewads will go to their pool

I did not no that, thanks for telling me.. when did that rule start?

before few months back - no one had noticed it except the gurus and when i mad an investigation and i had analysed 100 posts of different bloggers i become sure --- then i called some witnessed members who they have nodes and they also did not notice it..... but after this ..... many of these gurus of levels higher than 59 began to post "THE DUST" solo rules by steemit.... and some of them confirmed this by also making nodes ready for this action....THEN WALLA... IT BECAME A RULE BY STEEMIT and confirmed by many nodes and whales......

To be honest i dont care if i make a curation reward or not, i upvote people like u who deserve it not just to get a kick back.. 😉 so bring on the dust! LoL

thank you - :0

Congratulations @moderndayhippie and happy one year anniversary!

Well done for sticking with it. I celebrated this week too for making it to 1000 Steem Power. it's been a long, hard slog but actually the eight months I've been here have flown by.

I hope your next year is as enjoyable for you as this one has been. 😊

Thanks @gillianpearce! Congrats on making 1000sp, thats amazing, especiallyin just 8 months! That was my goal to hit by 1 year mark but life sometimes gets in the way.. With taking some time off to fix my life after my dreams fell apart I lost track of my steemit goals for a while.. but hey, better late than never right? So now I am trying to hit 1,000 sp by the end of the year however that is proving difficult with such low post payouts lately, but in the end that doesn't really matter because I have met so many great people like you! 😀

Aw. Thank you @moderndayhippie.

It is certainly way more work than I expected it to be.

I hope you hit your goal of 1000 Steem Power by the end of the year. As you say better late than never. 😊

Congratulation on the 1 year! I must agree that this platform have shown me some extraordinary people and I am bless to known them.

Come to think of it, I am approaching my first year here as well this month, how time flies...

Time does fly on steemit! It takes a little while to get to understand how it all works but it truly has the best people ever.. happy early steemaversary incase I miss it.. people like you are what makes this platform so awesome!

Same as you @moderndayhippie, we do our best here and grow together.
