Why the relaunch?

The previous model had some scaling issues that made it hard to keep fair in the long term.

I introduce to you the all new and improved @make-a-whale. This time with an education and a lot of math.

Keep in mind, the project is BETA so there might be some changes as we find more flaws or need to make improvements.

The new system could be a bit confusing but bear with me:

The system will now be user sensitive: Meaning only 30 members for now.
Users must have a Steemvoter account (or other upvote bot) or be willing to manually upvote the post daily.
Minimum requirements are still = 500SP+ and a rep of 50+.
@make-a-whale can only upvote you once a day (with a bonus 100% rotational vote).
@make-a-whale still reserves the right if you a spammy poster...

@make-a-whale is a project by Steemians for Steemians. Thus, we support users with good content and not spammy silly posts. We will not support spammers or users that are just here for a quick buck, we WILL review your account every now and then.

Let's get into the details.

Steemvoter Guide

What do you get by upvoting @make-a-whale?

But how does it all work?

How does it work.png

The previous model had some scaling issues and also was not very fair toward users who had more SP than our baby whale. Hence, the scaling solution was born:

scale.png

Since @make-a-whale will control the number of members in the group he can give larger upvotes.
With a 30 member cap @make-a-whale can upvote his members once a day with a $0.32+ upvote (current Steem price).
Since not everyone will post once a day some votes will be bigger, but never smaller. =)
As the account grows there will be more space for more members.

I want to say this again, voting for more than the minimum required will boost the whole project and all its member. Remember we will be leasing SP with SBD earned.

So the scaling is quite a bit of math and is worked out on the whales current Steem Power of around 10K. We will keep the SP above 10K at all time until our little whale can support himself, the more our little baby whale grows the more members we will include. For now we are keeping it at 30.

There are currently 30 slots available for the @make-a-whale project. 14 of these slots are already filled and all the previous members who believed in our project will get preference in joining (only those who meet the requirements).

This means we have 10 Spots left. This will be on a first come first serve basis IF you meet the requirements.

How do you join:

Comment below with "join" first come first serve. =)

I will review if users are voting and at the right weight after joining. So please be nice and play fair. =)

Together from minnows to dolphins to whales!!

Sort:

Join! Or at least I will as soon as I get reputation 50, almost there xD

Reviewed your feed and like what we see, you are almost at level 50 so we can reserve a spot for you for sure. To help you a long a bit here is an upvote. =)

Top, thanks! You're great guys ;)

Most welcome =)

I would love to be added to the list

Join, still very interested in seeing this through. Currently at over 2000 sp with some leased voting power. I will adjust my steemvoter settings to vote on the whale.

Thanks @gingerninja, glad to be aboard

Awesome, thanks man! Yeah I am also really interested to see how it will develop. Fun experiment =) Thanks for sticking around =)

Thanks for feeding =)

@maka-a-whale, one thing question about the Steemvoter vote. Which delay should we use or doesn't this matter? I will set my delay for 20 for the time being, if I should adjust to 15 or less let us know.

Keep it at around 30min, that way you get to keep most of the curation rewards.

Join, the project is still really interesting to be a part of !
Just one question because I am a bit confused on one point where you seem to say two opposite things, I may have misunderstood though. In the vote explanation, you wrote this :

confused.png

But later in the post you say :

Since not everyone will post once a day some votes will be bigger, but never smaller. =)

This made me confused because, what other way would there be to have bigger upvotes on some days than by not voting for people who didn't post ? Do you mean that the votes will be bigger if someone doesn't post nor comment ?

Anyway, I'll go set my steemvoter up ! (also, you forgot to add a space to format well the part over "How do you join:" ;) )

Ah, thanks for that.

Awesome, thanks for being part of it =)

1st question. When we make the roundabout vote, say for example it's your turn but you have not posted in the last 7 days, but you did comment, then we will upvote the comment and you will still get rewards.

2nd. We have set aside enough voting power for 30 people, per day. Since not everyone will be making a post each day there will be more voting power and thus more rewards per vote.

I am already on the list but just for confirmation: JOIN. The daily upvote amount doesn't look very promising but I have nothing else to loose but one daily upvote. I will do a 100% upvote although I only have to do 75%.

Now I will try to get this Steemvoter going somehow.

We are trying to make it profitable for everyone, remember we allocated X amount of Voting Power per day to accommodate all the members. This way we will always stay above 80% VP.

Since not all members will post at the same time (or post at all for that day) the VP will stay pretty high. Then there is the bonus roundabout upvote which is pretty small, but later it will be worth a lot more, depending on our growth and members. For now we don't have a lot of members so the upvotes will be around $0.76 per day to your post =)

Thanks for doing the 100% Upvote and supporting 100%. This will be remembered for future happenings. =)

How about buying some delegated power via @minnowbooster? We could through some Steem together and boost @make-a-whale significantly. They have a great offer right now. We would get the money back easily: https://steemit.com/minnowbooster/@minnowbooster/minnowbooster-has-a-gift-for-you

Yes, that is the plan. Currently we have 10K delegated and I will try my best to keep it at 10K. All the SBD earning will be to boost the posts and buy more delegated Steem Power via minnowbooster. =)

Cool! There is a lot of power for little money available.

It should be mentioned that using Steemvoter costs one vote per day:

STEEMVOTER uses customer votes as payment for “FREE SERVICES” by way of 1 (one) vote per day or a maximum of 7 (seven) votes per week. By subscribing to our services, customers nominate STEEMVOTER as duly authorized, limited proxy and cede the aforementioned vote(s) to STEEMVOTER to be used in accordance to the payment terms.

STEEMVOTER can use the payment votes in any way, shape or form; typically, but not limited to being used to upvote @steemvoter or associated company accounts. STEEMVOTER undertakes to as best as possible, to use customer payment votes responsibly, in a manner acceptable to STEEMVOTER subscribers.

STEEMVOTER reserves the right to use up to 2 (two) votes in a single day if prior votes were not utilized or if a short-term future dated vote is not going to be used for any reason. Un-voting one of these payment posts will be considered a breach of the terms of services and might lead to account closure or suspension of services without any warning or refund for any other paid services existing on the account.

Furthermore, “FREE SERVICES” are based on the Steem Power that an account contributes to the payment votes. The number of rules that are able to be added to an account is directly related to the Steem Power value utilized towards the payment votes. STEEMVOTER reserves the right to change the number of rules at any time, including, but not limited to, the adjustment to cater for the inflation in STEEM.

Because I didn't like the fact that these services use your votes to vote on posts that you have no control over I am building a web app with all kinds of tools for Steem users that are really free to use. I am hoping to keep the servers running based on donations and rewards on the posts by Steemler.

The first feature that is live is a voting automation tool, I am guessing you can use Steemler as well to vote for make-a-whale.

you can check out the how-to here: How to: The Steemler voting automation tool (Steemler voting bot)

I am curious what you guys think and why you would or would not use it.

Cool, I will check it out tomorrow. Thanks for doing this.

Yeah, I know they do sometimes take a vote, I have been with them for quite a while and have not noticed any real drainage in Voting Power. Steemvoter is simply to make it more convenient. There is always the option to vote manually. Think it over and let me know if you are going to stick around =)

No need to think it over. I am registered and all set up. :)

ok I'll rejoin using steemvoter instead of streemian, I'll have it setup soon after posting this :)

done

Awesome! Welcome back! Glad to have you still on board, you have been added to the upvote pool. =)

This post has received a 2.67 % upvote from @booster thanks to: @make-a-whale.

Join, I am on another Guild at present, but will cancel that one if I may join here. Thank you @make-a-whale

I have added you to my steemvoter account so long. :)

Just a quick update, I am checking who are voting on Steemvoter, your vote did not cast, just double check your rules and settings, thanks.

You have been added to the voting pool =)

Hi @make-a-whale, I just login to steemvoter and see that your are not on the rules. I have added you again. I must have made an error. Sorry.

PS. Must I take myself off the other voting guild now? I am part of your guild now?

Not a problem =) you are added to the pool already.

It depends on how much voting power your guold takes. You can be part of both if you do not run out of voting power. MAW only takes one upvote a day so it should be ok. Just keep an eye on your voting power.

Good question I would also like to know. I am applying as soon as I hit a rep of 50.

@colinbrazendale Reviewed your feed and all looks good =) Will be making another post in a few hours but I trust you have kept your word regarding steemvoter so you are in. =)

Welcome to the project!

Welkom ;-)

@pjcswart. @make-a-whale considered your account but see there are a lot of pictures that are not your own. You need to please reference where you got them from or you might get in trouble for plagiarism later on. Once you reach level 50 rep we can consider a position for you on the team. Stick around and come back as soon as you reach level 50 rep =)

OK will do. I get the pics for free from pexels.com and pixabay, should I still reference them?

I'm on 49.6 now, so hopefully by next week I can make 50 before it is too late.

OK I checked and on those websites they say whether or not attribution is required. Maybe though better if I just always attribute anyway, thanks for the tip!

Yeah, some of the older users are quite strict about pictures and sources.

By just mentioning the sources are pexels or pixabay should be fine.

Let me know when you hit Rep 50 then you can join =)

ok cool thanks, am i pretty much screwed for the posts I already did without naming the source? Or will it help if I go and add the sources for them now - i mean the ones that are max 7 days old.

How far back do you think they will look? Over time I guess I can go back and put the sources in for all the old ones too, might take some time :-). Or maybe just remove all the pics, should be faster?

You are fine for now since no one flagged you. Remember to do it for future posts. =)

OK thanks so much for the reminder....

What's the quickest way to make your reputation go up would you say?

It would be to post and get more upvotes. You can always try some pay 4 vote services like @booster @minnowbooester to get some extra upvotes. =)
