Voting with 1% of Voting Power? Why? Any Advantage?
I am not a programmer so I do not understand much of all this but ...
What advantage does it give you to vote at 1%?
I see that many are doing that in Steemit these days. For example...
I personally do not see any meaning to this but hey, maybe it's my ignorance and that's why I ask. It seems to me that it is a bot that people follow and vote the same as him at 1% but very surely I will be wrong.
Thank you in advance for any clarification you can give me.
This is @fyrstikken's idea.
https://steemit.com/winfrey-guild/@fyrstikken/the-winfrey-guild-48-hours-report-and-debate-feedback-wanted
the 'winfrey guild' upvotes everything with 1%.
I think it's a complete waste of energy, completely pointless and somewhat annoying;
But it's their Steem Power and they can use it, as they see fit.
Completely agree with you and thanks a lot for the link.
Sadly as you well say it is their Voting Power and they can use it as the want.
+1
Maybe this is the motto of the 1% clique :-( @felixxx - but could also be seen in a different context
Very bad motto for Steemit in general ;)
@felixxx I totally agree that its a waste of VI and it kind'a have a mean appeal
but its their voting power so sighs we can't tell them where to use it
I just wish they just choose good quality posts and give at least 20% instead of voting with just 1% and voting on everything including posts that looks like rushed and not even giving value.
My votes are always 100% manual, any post, replies too. :-)
@oaldasmter ohhh I'm glad to see you
new change is coming here
Thank you for pointing it out to me Ivy. 😉👍
:) I vote always every comment so I had to change the power to 50% cause I was all the time in red color, between 15%-20% VP
@juanmiguelsalas I used to let it hit 30% but my VI has more effect even on good posts that are getting cents if its up to at least 60%
am trying to get it up to 70% but its too hard to not return votes specially if the voter of my post has a good post with extra efforts and are just earning cents - it pains me to watch!
Same here, it is hard not to return a vote or to vote something you like @englishtchrivy ;)
@juanmiguelsalas it is
anyway, am glad you're back I was wondering when you'll be back from Cuba - :)
have a great weekend!
Yes I'm back :) but will comeback to Cuba in 5 weeks for more work, this time just one month. Have a great weekend you too. Cheers! :)
Yes, it can hit on the VP when one is very active with replies and voting for them. And it takes quite a while to recover from 15-20%.
Yeap, it takes a while to recover ;)
Never less than a hundred percent here :-)
me too except for comments
Me too, post 100% and comments at 50%.
That's a good idea, comments set to fifty for as well now!
I was just to write about this topic as well! I do not see any sense on that - to save your voting power I can for sure understand you vote lower as 100% - when part of a curation trail I do understand sth like 20% as well but 1% is a waste of time and annoying
Very annoying!
will write about it soon - I just need to research a little bit!
Hope this help in your investigation https://steemit.com/curation-guild/@fyrstikken/the-winfrey-bot-2-0-big-update-and-guild-update
yeah reading this as we speak
I'm curious too!
I have seen votes at 0.7%! What then happens is that people follow the trend, not realising how it all works.
If a vote does not register it goes into a dustpile which then gets distributed back proportionally to the holders of SP - thereby handing even that lot to the top 100 or so. I have seen tiny minnows voting at 5%.
There is a counter argument which says, as your vote is worth so little, all that matters is that people see you voted for them! So, with a vote worth $0.0001, what's the difference - vote like crazy and see if you can pick up some followers.
Personally, I would ban it. But ... I just know where the system is heading.
Thanks for your comment @ebryans :)
I thought it at first but I did not want to be so badly thought ... maybe not all but many should think so surely. Luckily there is Steemstats ;)
the cursed 1% vote.
very controversial indeed.
The pros are pretty much all for the voter the receiver doesn't really get much in return.
Some will argue that with a 1% voter can vote more often and there for spread the wealth.
They would need to have well over 30,000 sp probably more in the high 100k's for a 1% vote to give rewards to an author. How ever the voter will still get 1% of the curation rewards. If you vote 200 times a day it could add up.
The receiver will feel like crap and like I mentioned, if the voter has such low sp, the author will probably get nothing they can notice in terms of rewards.
Too many l% votes and no or little rewards will chase away the whale bots that are vital for a post to get decent rewards.
Everything is working as planned i would assume.
I can see that ;) hehehehehe
Thanks for your comment @solarguy :)
77 votes, 44 are at 1% :)
ouch. that sucks. well. the platform value is crashing.
I used to get big votes then one day i wrote a post about how the guilds can direct bots to and away from posts.
I never got a whale vote since. So I am led to believe it is all part of their plan.
good luck!!
What that means???
That's something I still don't understand either.
When there was someone flagging everything and everyone, though, these 1% votes helped to cancel it out. So that's where I did understand the value.
Thanks for the comment @playfulfoodie :) It could be what you say but even for to cancel the flagging out you need more Voting Power than the flagger... 1% of 100% is nothing.
Those were bots made by people with loads of steem power where even 1% was higher than the flagging account :-)
Ah! That makes sense :)
No, that wasn't how it worked then.
There never was a use for those 1% votes, ever.
What do you suggest should be there minimum ? 20% ?
20% could be... I would go more for a 25% but 1% is just ridiculous from my point of view... Not to mention that people do not see your post at all (normal when you use bots) ... maybe if they saw it they would vote with a higher percentage ;)
A few days ago, I read that suggestion by some member and was confused but sent some SD to steemvoters, thinking it could help. Anyways, I agree, it was a ridiculous advice and will do again what I feel is best. 100% as usual :) I am editing my rules and continue voting manually.
