Life on Steemit - 150 Days on the Blockchain!
So how are things going after 150 days on Steemit? Well, lemme tell ya - It’s been one heck of a roller coaster ride, with joyful highs, vibe-killing lows and the odd hairpin curve thrown in for good measure. My followers have increased by over 200 since my last report and now tops 450 hardy Souls.
What worked
One of the best decisions I ever made was to start several series posts. Beginning with my Life is Precious articles where I chronicle the frailty and perseverance of the human condition, to my Steemit Tips set, in which I drop juicy little nuggets to help you get better on Steemit. Thus began my first taste of success in breaking out of the dungeon where I saw almost zero, zilch, nada engagement on my posts and the sweet taste of nectar in finally being heard.
Since I tend to write with the reader and Google in mind, I think some of my followers may be coming from our favorite search engine. (Does anybody still use Yahoo?). That "followers" number seems to go up and down like a cross-eyed Witch on crack!
The other thing that helped me get more followers and upvotes was Steemfollower Imagine scraping the butt-paste off Kim Kardashian's greasy ass and using that as an accelerant. Just like The Flash, that’s what Steemfollower can do for your blog. Once I found out it was free, I signed right up.
Testing, testing...
I tested some of the upvote/resteem bots to see their effect, and it seems they can give you a spike in exposure, but everything just about evens out in the end. If you're lucky, you won't lose any SBD and might just make a few Simoleans, so this can be a crapshoot either way. I'm thinking about looking into delegating to see how that ends up working out over the long term.
Discord in the USA!
When I first started out Steemit chat was where it’s at. Jumping into Discord (leave invites if you have an excellent server) left me with a bewildering array of "bleeps," "plonks" and a very busy interface for a new user. Just started getting active on PAL and really enjoy it. It would be great if someone could make a list of what all the sound effects mean. So if you've mastered the "AOL" of Steemit Chat, take a hike on over to "the real internet" at Discord.

Touched by a Whale
So if you're still struggling on Steemit, DON'T YOU DARE GIVE UP! I wish I could remember who it was, but at my lowest point a kind Whale encouraged me with words of wisdom and dropped a big, fat, juicy upvote on a comment I made. Thanks for sharing. We are new and love learning from those that were smart enoughh to get in earlier. I have signed up for steemfollower now. We have been trying a few boosters and think we are breaking even if not a small but in front. We are looking at the delegation of Steem Power but need to get some payouts first and we have powered up everything to date we had spare. Traction hasn't been too bad woth somw wins and some losses but overall still a great month on steemit..
You seem to be making all the right moves. I bought some STEEM when I noticed the price of SBD increase this month and that really helped my voting power. If you play it right, you can get your investment back and a little bit more along with the exposure. Best wishes for a wonderful 2018! :)

Well, I've been on less than 2 weeks. It's been confusing to say the least, but, what really helped me out was the general chat room. Everyone on there has been really nice, and put up with all my crazy questions!! :).

Hey friend! I took a look at your page and I don't think that day will be far off. You had a couple of posts that did well for someone so new, along with a decent account value. That upvote I got last summer was worth more than many of my posts at that time. I spent hours and hours on the following post and got nothing, not even one comment. I must have upset the Soccer Gods! lol!
