What’s Your Most Consistent Hobby For The Last 5 Years?

Today's topic is not directly related to Steemit, but it's a bit more personal. I thought it would be nice to focus on something different for a change.

So, my most consistent hobby for the last 5 years is... running.

I picked up running in 2011, actually, and I was very lousy at it. During the first year I was running like a week per month and the rest I was spending recovering from some injury: joints, muscles or whatever. It was only in 2012 that I was able to run a marathon and from that moment on, everything changed.

In 2013 I ran another marathon, in 2014 I ran my first ultra-marathon, a 60km race.

Then in 2015 I ran my first 100km race (it was actually a training for the next big one) and then the longest race I did so far, 222km (Ultrabalaton, a lap around the Balaton lake in Hungary). In 2016 I ran my first 24 hours and 48 hours races (for a few montshI had the best result for 48 hours in my country). In 2017 I continued with another 48 hours race and I also signed up for one this year, it will be in September.

I started to run initially to lose weight and I continued to run because it felt good for the mind. That's why I picked up so much on ultra-running and I kinda avoid speed races (marathon counts as a speed race for me).

I train regularly even if I don't have a competition coming up. It became part of my daily / weekly routine.

Also, my running style and goals changed very much: I'm running a lot slower and, apart from some injuries at competitions, I wasn't injured for the last 2 years at all. The goal is not to get a good result at the next competition as it is to keep this habit in my life for as long as possible.

So, that was my most consistent hobby for the last 5 years. Looking forward for yours. Don't forget to add a link to your post in the comments so I can check it out.

Nice summary. I love the retro camera. I used to take pictures on one-time use cameras. Oh how far we have come. Thanks for sharing.

amm hard one dose watching NBA games count?

Keep fighting for positive change. We need more citizens around the world to actively participate in politics. I try to keep from watching the news because it's depressing, but I do want to get more involved in taking action. Great job!

Thanks for sweet words sir I will remember your feelings always @michaelluchies

I'm assuming eating doesn't count.

Jokes aside, this is such an important topic. So many people have such great dreams for self-improvement, but when it comes down to making progress it's consistency that always counts and it's consistency that's hardest to stick to.

For the last 5 years, my most consistent hobby would be reading... all my other hobbies wax and wane with my levels of stress, but reading is something I always find time for.

Reading is a great hobby to have. I have a hard time forcing myself to sit down and block out all of the other distractions in order to read a book. Eating would be one of my hobbies as well :-)

I find there are two times that work really well. Right before I go to bed I usually need to de-stress/ forget all the work I put off doing till tomorrow, and I'll read a light book then (I find Terry Pratchest's work really good). The other is on public transport, though it depends if i get a seat :/

Daily 1 hour swim in the pool

My hobby is #bookreading

What is your favorite book or favorite genre of books? I like self-help myself.

What's your favorite book and fav genre?
