The rising price of Steem in the past weeks has Steemit users and Steem investors very excited about the future. After holding a value of less than $1 most of the year 2017 it has suddenly appreciated in value over the last month. There are several reasons behind the increase in value of Steem but there seem to be two main reasons.
The first is the much awaited rollout of Smart Media Tokens with its value proposition of monetizing internet properties and also encouraging participation by visitors through quality content in the form of posts and comments. The second is the maturity of the platform itself which is now recognized as a direct competitor to Facebook. No less than the owner of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, has announced the inclusion of thorough research into cryptocurrency for his platform is one of his new year resolutions. That says a lot about how much potential there is in Steem as a place for blogging and social networking.
This is not investment advice but the value of Steem could reach 10 USD in 2018. So what are the different things that you could do with the value of Steem at $10 which could be even weeks from now?
1.If you have been around for some time on Steemit and have a good amount of Steem in your account in the form of Steem Power you can choose to continue to invest in Steem to curate content and earn a good reward for it. For example, if you currently have $10,000 in Steem Power, your vote will be worth over 3 USD. This will mean that each time you upvote a comment your comment will stand out as being one of the top ones in a trending post. It will be easy to get a lot of followers by putting out useful and thoughtful comments. I think this is the best way that you can use an increased value of Steem.
Some of you may like to reward yourself for a job well done and an investment that yielded a good return. After all very few investments go up in value these days so why not appreciate your own efforts in taking a god decision!
2.If you would like to reward yourself and also make a long term investment you could buy a house in a good location. You can move into your new house that you bought with your Steem or rent it out for a regular, passive income. Moreover, a well located house will always be a great investment and the location will guarantee that it not only fetches a good price in the future but also sells fast, increasing your liquidity.
3.You may have been thinking about buying a car for yourself or a superbike to show off to your friends. When you buy a vehicle it is more for utility or for enhancing your prestige and less of an investment because most used cars have a declining value. But if you're looking to buy yourself something nice go ahead and buy a Lamborghini or a Mercedes.
4.Precious metals like gold have the function of being an investment as well as for show. If you are a lady and would like to buy some gold jewelry you are also making an investment that will surely appreciate in value. You can also use gold jewelry regularly unlike diamonds which you can't wear too often maybe for the odd event. If not gold buy silver or maybe even diamonds instead.
5.For some, clearing off debt may be a priority. Rightly so, since being free of debt is an important part of being financially free. You may have student loans or it could be a mortgage on the house that you would like to pay off to stop your worries. Imagine leading a debt-free life forever!
6.Not many might think of this but it is also an investment that is worth it. You can buy a website that is already established and has many readers. There are many benefits to buying a website that is already earning a passive income. There are online marketplaces and brokers who can get you a good deal. When SMTs are introduced you can further increase the value of the website by incorporating them into your website!
7.If you have Steem to spare you can travel to your favorite destinations that you may have only read about. If you get to travel far and wide you will have lots to write about and you will not need to think of topics for your blog! Besides you will be able to spread the message about Steemit wherever you go without any additional cost to yourself. :-)
8.If you would like to be adventurous and have an appetite for investment, you could also look at upcoming coin offerings that have great potential in the future. It is good to hedge your bets and spread out your investments.
9.Maybe you don't have so much to cash out, because it's only a few hundred dollars or less. Well it doesn't mean that you don't celebrate your success and the high price of Steem. Buy yourself a good steak or a meal at your favorite restaurant.
10.Your family is also entitled to the rewards of your success, be it wife and kids, your partner or your parents. If you have kids buy then something nice as well, and don't forget to buy a gift for your wife or significant other.
While you're at it, be charitable and remember those who may be less fortunate. Help someone in need and bring a smile to their face. It could be helping someone you know who is in financial distress or donating to a charitable institution.
