Happy New Year and 2017 in Retrospective
With a few hours left for 2017 to end as I type this it is time to put the soon-to-be-gone year in perspective.
As most will agree, especially those who have joined Steemit in 2017, this year has been a bit crazy. Not only has Steemit brought a change to so many lives but the world of cryptocurrencies has also undergone so many changes. The crypto landscape is quite different and newer than what it was at the end of 2016.
The biggest changes have been obvious to connected to the price but also look at the new cryptocurrencies that have sprung and some have done well already. There are one too many now and hopefully the scammy ones should get pushed out through the new year. However large investment is only happening in cryptos that are established and are known to most people. It is apparent that small investors don't want to take a chance with new unknown ICOs.
After signing under in July I was posting regularly for a few months after which I was away sorting out work related exigencies. Sadly posting on Steemit took a break and it is only now, this month, that I have started posting regularly again. In terms of earnings I know that it takes time and a few thousand followers to make a decent amount. But what I am excited about is the rise in the value of Steem and a surprise upward movement of SBD.
Although I do remember well known names predicting a value of 10 dollars at the end of 2017, it is not at all disappointing to see a higher value of Steem after 6 months on Steemit. Hopefully the work done by the stakeholders and members of Steemit will bear even bigger fruit in 2018 where I have already seen very high predictions in various posts.
It is really heartening to see so many hundreds of members posting each and every day without fail keeping everyones spirits and hopes high. It is difficult to get off Steemit once you enter the site - there is so much interesting content that you just don't feel like going away. I have to use a timer to make sure that I don't spend excess time or even the whole day in Steemit.
I have been asked by several people I know what 2018 will be like for cryptocurrency. It is good to see Bitcoin soaring away but I do think a correction will happens sooner or later. In fact many coins that have soared in value will see a correction. On the other hand awareness about various coins will increase and future investors will be curious about how they can gain from newer offerings. Governments across the world will keep building pressure on cryptocurrencies which will drive up demand because they will not be able to control much of what may be the natural order.
As for my own plan I do intend to be regular on Steemit for posting as well as participating. On the personal front I want to spend more time with family and do some travel as well.
